The Unexpected PROBLEM You Could Face in Magic Kingdom

Disney World has a transportation system that can take you all around the resort without the need for you to use your own vehicle.

However, sometimes issues arise that can affect that transportation system. We’ve seen the occasional problems with buses (longer wait times or other issues), the Skyliner (closing due to the weather and even some crashes), and the Monorail is occasionally stopped, too. Recently, we experienced a particular problem with the Express Monorail that we wanted to alert you to as it could impact your own trip in the future.

When we arrived at Disney World on the morning of March 10th, we saw that the Express Monorail from the Transportation and Ticket Center to Magic Kingdom was working. We made our way to Magic Kingdom, walked around the park for a bit, and then checked out the front entrance a little later in the morning.

At around 11:12AM, we saw a sign indicating that the Express Monorail’s service from Magic Kingdom back to the Transportation and Ticket Center was unavailable. This is the Monorail that takes you DIRECTLY from Magic Kingdom to Ticket and Transportation Center (and back) with no other stops.

You might be thinking, “Okay, what does this have to do with me? Maybe it was a one-time closure!” However, there IS something important about this closure we want to point out.

On several occasions, one of our DFB reporters has found that when they’ve tried to leave Magic Kingdom earlier in the day, they have not been able to utilize the Express Monorail to get back to the Ticket and Transportation Center. So, while you might find that the Express Monorail from the Ticket and Transportation Center to Magic Kingdom is operating, the return path from Magic Kingdom to the Transportation and Ticket Center might NOT be available in the early morning. Another one of our reporters, however, had not experienced this problem, so it all depends.

We did speak with a Cast Member on the morning of March 10th about this particular situation. We were told that the Express Monorail’s service from Magic Kingdom to the Transportation and Ticket Center would be back up later. We spoke with another Cast Member that said it was normally unavailable in the morning and usually reopened around noon or 12:30PM.

So if you are trying to leave Magic Kingdom earlier in the day (before 12PM or 12:30PM), know that you might need to use the Resort Monorail instead of the Express One to make your way back to the Transportation Ticket Center.
