We’re constantly monitoring the wait times in the Disney World parks, but today is a little bit different!
Splash Mountain, one of the most popular rides in Magic Kingdom, is closing to make way for the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure retheme. Splash Mountain already had the longest wait time by far in the park this weekend, so let’s see what the wait times look like on its official closing day!
On Saturday, January 21st, 2023, Splash Mountain had a 120-minute wait time when we walked by in the early afternoon.
When we checked first thing on Sunday morning (9:30AM), the wait time was already 90 minutes!
These long wait times come as no surprise — it’s not often that a ride permanently closes in Disney World! By 9:45AM, the wait time had jumped to 145-minutes.
And by 11:30AM, the wait time was up to 180 minutes!
By 1PM, the wait time was all the way up to 200 minutes.
And by 3:10PM, the wait time wasn’t slowing down, it was getting LONGER and sitting at 220 minutes. That’s nearly a four-hour wait!

Around 5:15PM, the wait time dropped to 120 minutes.
Unfortunately, there’s no way around these long wait times unless you’ve already grabbed a Lightning Lane reservation —Â as of now, the Genie+ reservations have already sold out for the day. We’ll be keeping an eye out to see if more are released later, but for now, if you want to ride, we suggest getting in line!
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is currently set to open in late 2024, so it will be a while until this area of the park doesn’t have construction. We’ll be bringing you construction updates from the park as Disney makes progress on the retheme, so stay tuned for that!
