Disney schedules refurbishments for certain attractions, shops, and resorts throughout the year to do routine touch-ups or needed maintenance. And, this week, seven (!!) spots are scheduled closures between January 10th to 16th, 2022 — let’s take a look!
Magic Kingdom Refurbishments
Walt Disney World Railroad
It’s been over three years since the Walt Disney World Railroad has taken guests on the iconic loop around Magic Kingdom, and the closure is set to continue through next week.

Currently, a portion of the train tracks are being blocked by construction on TRON: Lightcycle Run in Tomorrowland, so it could be some time before this fan-favorite attraction is up and running again. For now, no reopening date has been announced.

Splash Mountain
Another popular Magic Kingdom attraction is set to join the refurbishment list this week! Splash Mountain will close beginning January 10th through February 10th, 2022 for routine maintenance, so guests will have to forego a water-logged ride for the month.

Keep in mind that this closure is not related to the previously-announced transformation of Splash Mountain into a Princess and the Frog-themed ride, as this will come at a later date and likely involve a longer closure.

EPCOT Refurbishments
Souk-Al-Magreb
Your trip around World Showcase at EPCOT won’t look the same quite yet, as the small shop, Souk-Al-Magreb, will remain closed this week in the Morocco Pavilion.

The store has been closed for many months and is not scheduled to reopen until February 6th, 2022 according to Disney World’s calendar.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Refurbishments
Expedition Everest
Last week marked the beginning of the long-term closure of Expedition Everest — Legend of the Forbidden Mountain in Disney’s Animal Kingdom and it will continue throughout this week.

The pool is currently under refurbishment from early January 2022 through late February 2022, but both the Big Blue Pool and the Cozy Cone Pool remain open.

Scheduled to go in Feb. for a meeting. I have decided not to go to the parks even though I’m an annual pass holder. The crowds are the main reason. I’m just not interested in Disney, the parks, the closures, the money, the decreasing quality and safety concerns anymore. I’ll read a book instead.
