Disney World tends to plan quite a few refurbishments for the winter months after the holiday crowds roll out of the parks, and this year is no different!
So, while you won’t have to worry about battling long lines, you might stumble into a few more closures than you might expect if you’re visiting in the next few weeks. And, to help you plan, we’re bringing you a look at everything that will be CLOSED for refurbishment between January 3rd to 9th, 2022!
Magic Kingdom Refurbishments
Walt Disney World Railroad
The Walt Disney World Railroad originally closed in Magic Kingdom over three years ago as construction on TRON: Lightcycle Run began over in Tomorrowland, and the attraction will continue to be unavailable for guests this week.
Construction on the new roller coaster is currently blocking a portion of the track and Disney has not yet announced a timeline for when the attraction will debut. So, it could be a lot longer before guests can hop onboard the train for a loop around the park once again (though, the train has been undergoing some testing recently!).
Disney’s calendar currently lists that the store will reopen on February 6th, 2022, so guests planning a trip next month can look forward to stopping by the cultural shop on their way around World Showcase.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Refurbishments
Joining the list of closures this week is Expedition Everest — Legend of the Forbidden Mountain located in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The roller coaster is set to close for refurbishment on January 4th, 2022, and will not reopen until sometime in mid-April 2022.
Disney has not yet announced any further details on what changes or updates will be coming to the ride or an exact reopening date.
Disney World Water Park Refurbishments
Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park
To kick off the new year, Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park closed for the first time since reopening in March of 2021. The scheduled refurbishment began on January 2nd, 2022, and currently has no end date.
But, if you’re visiting Disney World and want to hit up a water park, then you’ll still be able to! Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park officially reopened on January 2nd, 2022 after being closed for almost two years.
Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
The last closure takes us over to Disney’s Art of Animation Resort where the Flippin’ Fins Pool (which is located in the Little Mermaid section of the hotel) is undergoing refurbishment from early January 2022 through late February 2022.
In the meantime, the Big Blue Pool and the Cozy Cone Pool remain open for guests staying at the hotel.
That’s it for everything that is scheduled to be closed this week in Disney World! Disney has already announced more refurbishments that are scheduled to begin in Early 2022 as well, so be sure to stay tuned to AllEars for all the latest updates!
