PHOTOS: Here’s What New Year’s Day Crowds Look Like in Disney World!

Happy New Year! 2022 has officially arrived, and we’re kicking things off with, you guessed it, a trip to Disney World!

Happy New Year!

We’ve been in the parks all week to see how busy the holiday crowds were, including New Year’s Eve, and today we’re back in the parks to see just how many guests had the same idea as us to start off 2022 at Disney World!

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Disney’s Hollywood Studios opened early for holiday guests this morning at 8:30AM and we were there bright and early to head into the park with everyone else! And, while most people may have been up counting down to midnight, there were still quite a few early risers up and ready to go with us.

With so many people on their way into the park to start their day, Hollywood Boulevard was pretty congested with people…

…but the crowds quickly started to disperse as everyone went on their way to get in line for their first ride of the day.

Even Sunset Boulevard had quite a bit of space to spread out.

The path over to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge had similar crowd levels.

But, if you were really looking to escape the crowds for the first time since the holiday season kicked off, then the Muppets area of the park was THE place to be. There were some people getting in line for Muppet*Vision 3D

…and back in the area, there was no one to be found. Not something that we see too often on these busy days!

But, we were able to find the crowds just steps away, as the line for Rise of the Resistance was backed up allll the way through the tunnel into Galaxy’s Edge with a wait time of 185 minutes. When this happens, the line just keeps going…

Even the entrance to the attraction was packed with crowds waiting for their Lightning Lane return window to open up.

So, while the park itself felt less crowded than it has over the past week, the lines for attractions told a different story.

Other Parks

By 10:30AM, the other parks also seemed to be filling up based on attraction wait times. Magic Kingdom appeared to be the least crowded, with lines for five of the most popular rides all below one hour.

And, it seemed that getting to EPCOT early could also benefit you today! Soarin’ Around the World had a wait of only 10 minutes with the longest line being for Test Track.

Over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom though, the line for Avatar Flight of Passage was already close to rivaling the wait for Rise of the Resistance with a wait time of 115 minutes.

So, if you’re visiting the parks this weekend, prepare for those holiday crowds, even in the morning! It may get a little less busy during the week next week, but keep in mind that the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend is set to take place from January 5th through the 9th! As always, be sure to follow along ahead of your next Disney World vacation for all of the latest news and updates.
