It’s Disney World’s 50th Anniversary! For 18 months, Disney is celebrating this momentous anniversary with new attractions, restaurants, shows, and tons of food and merch!

One of the things that comes with this massive anniversary celebration is a massive amount of construction! Today, we spotted something that points to a new renovation project starting soon.
According to a recent permit, the shop next to Space Mountain, the Tomorrowland Light & Power Co., will be getting a major renovation! However, it looks like most of these changes will be to the exterior of the store.

These renovations seem to coincide with the construction of the new TRON: Lightcycle Run attraction coming to Tomorrowland. TRON: Lightcycle Run, which is based on the Shanghai Disneyland attraction of the same name, currently has no opening date or timeline.

Following its completion, TRON: Lightcycle Run will be located right behind Space Mountain and Tomorrowland Light & Power Co., which could be why the store is getting a facelift. From the TRON concept art, it looks like this shop will be getting a more sleek look, which means we’ll likely be saying goodbye to the iconic retro look of the Tomorrowland Light & Power Co.

The company in charge of this renovation is Whiting-Turner Contracting and the expiration date is December 30th, 2023. That’s a pretty long time for a permit, meaning that this could be a huge project.

As we start to see these renovations begin, we’ll keep you posted with the latest update! We’re always keeping up with everything happening in the Disney parks, so stay tuned here for more!
