Disney’s Contemporary Resort has been an ongoing construction site over the past few months.
Giant tarps have been up blocking the hallways in the main tower as Disney refurbishes the rooms with a new theme from Disney and Pixar’s Incredibles. And, not too long after, construction walls went up in the first-floor lobby area to make way for a reimagined restaurant in place of The Wave. But, as of today, things are looking VERY different in the popular hotel!
The last time that we stopped by Disney’s Contemporary Resort, we were greeted by a lobby filled with giant black walls…
…but now the walls are DOWN revealing the entrance to the brand new restaurant, Steakhouse 71!
The new entryway is full of rich wood and hints of retro theming. There’s also a new hallway full of black and white pictures of Walt Disney!
A new digital sign is also on display!
If you’re not familiar, Steakhouse 71 takes the place of The Wave at the resort and is based on the year that Walt Disney World opened — 1971. Inside, guests will find a new atmosphere that combines sleek contemporary designs, nods to Florida heritage, and design elements from the 70s.
The new “family-friendly steakhouse” is set to open on October 1st in time for the 50th Anniversary and will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And, we’ve already gotten a peek at the menu which features “contemporary spins” on Walt Disney’s favorite foods and more.
But, that’s not all that lies inside the restaurant — there will also be a lounge!
Reservations are already available for the new restaurant, so be sure to secure yours sooner than later if you want to step inside when it officially opens next week!
As of now, there are still some tarps in the main tower of the Contemporary resort, so it seems like Disney is still working on those room refurbishments!
Like we mentioned before, all of the rooms that underwent a major refurbishment are set to reopen with a brand new Incredibles-themed look! So, you’ll be able to find subtle reminders of the characters in the pillows…
…and even the closet!
Disney has yet to share more details on when guests can begin booking their stay in the new rooms, but we’ll continue to keep an eye out for updates.
Well, it sure is exciting to see all the construction walls come down at Disney’s Contemporary Resort! Be sure to stay tuned to AllEars for more of the latest Disney news leading up to the 50th anniversary and beyond!
