After the closures in March last year, Disney had to make a lot of tough calls when it came to performances and entertainment when the parks finally re-opened that summer.

Many fan-favorite shows were then suspended in the Fall and performers were unfortunately laid off across the parks, including at shows like Festival of the Lion King. It then became a question of “if” the show would return at that point, and not “when.” BUT, Disney officially announced that the Festival of the Lion King would, in fact, be debuting again in Disney’s Animal Kingdom with a few differences!
Previously, the show was only announced to be re-opening this summer at the Harambe Theater. However, a manager at Disney’s Animal Kingdom has now stated that the Festival of the Lion King will be starting shows once again on May 15th.

It will receive modifications to fit with the new social distancing guidelines, including space among the performers and a new seating configuration for the audience. The show will experience a soft opening today, so stay tuned to see what that looks like!
Times for the show were recently added to the Disney World website! From May 9th-10th, 3 shows occur at 12:30PM, 1:30PM, and 2:30PM. On May 11th, two more shows are added to those times at 5PM and 6PM. From May 12th and on, there are 6 shows a day with the times above and an additional show at 7PM.

We honestly can’t wait to see the Festival of the Lion King open again in Disney’s Animal Kingdom! And, we’ll be sure to keep an eye on any other re-opening entertainment coming to Disney World too!
Here’s where you should start your day in Disney World!
