Every week when a new episode is released, we love digging in and finding all the hidden details. Plus, we’re really enjoying those WandaVision petite cakes at Disney Springs! We’ll admit that the new series is posing a lot more questions than answers, but looking back at the previous happenings in the Marvel Universe can help shine a light on at least a few things (and characters).

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD!

Thor

First up is the backstory on Darcy Lewis, the woman who is helping uncover the mystery inside of WestView. The movie certainly isn’t about Darcy, but it is the first time that she appears in the Marvel Universe.

In Thor, Darcy is a political science major who interns for astrophysicist Jane Foster where she is introduced to the Avengers and learns the basics of the science she will be calling upon in WandaVision.

Thor: The Dark World

Now, this one you can probably skip, but it’s worth noting if you’re looking for a serious Marvel marathon. Darcy Lewis makes an appearance in the action to help Jane Foster find Erik Selvig.

What’s most interesting is how the events could tie into WandaVision. Selvig created devices to stop Malekith that could be of help to Darcy as they try to penetrate the energy field surrounding WestView.

Avengers: Age Of Ultron

Avengers: Age of Ultron is THE movie to watch to get the backstory on Wanda and Vision. Vision is literally created in the movie, and Wanda eventually finds her way to the Avengers. AND, you’ll learn how Wanda got her powers (and more about them).

Remember when Geraldine (aka Monica Rambeau) asks Wanda if her brother was killed by Ultron? Yup, this is the movie that tells the story!

Captain America: Civil War

In Captain America: Civil War, it is clear that Wanda and Vision have grown close but they end up on opposite sides of the war. This happens in large part due to Wanda’s role in the Lagos tragedy and the changes to the Sokovia Accords (Wanda is Sokovian).

Wanda and Vision aren’t the happy couple we see in WandaVision quite yet in the film, but it’s still worth watching to see their relationship in the early stages.

Avengers: Infinity War

By the time that Avengers: Infinity War hit the screen, Wanda and Vision had become an official couple. In this movie, Vision changes his exterior for the first time to appear as a human when he’s with Wanda and we get to see their relationship develop a bit more.

This is also when Thanos goes on the hunt to collect the Infinity Stones, one of which is in Vision’s head. THIS movie is why we know (or think) that Vision is dead, and it will help explain his appearance when Wanda looks at him after banishing Geraldine in Episode 4.

Ant-Man And The Wasp

Jimmy Woo, the FBI Agent, is introduced to audiences in Ant-Man and The Wasp. Jimmy eventually becomes the man who will work alongside Darcy and S.W.O.R.D. to uncover the mysteries of WestView.

If anything, watch this one to see where Jimmy learned that fancy card trick he used when he pulled out his badge!

Captain Marvel

The more recent Marvel movie, Captain Marvel is another to add to your movie marathon. The film primarily focuses on the backstory of Carol Danvers, but also includes a character that has taken on a large role in WandaVision — Monica Rambeau. The movie reveals a lot about her mother’s story so you’ll understand all the references to the former S.W.O.R.D. leader.

Monica Rambeau (also known as Geraldine) is proving to be a key character in WandaVision and we can only expect more answers to come from her. She’s the only one who has been in WestView and come out.

Avengers: Endgame

And lastly, it’s probably pretty obvious that we’d suggest watching this Marvel movie to catch up. The Disney+ series has been confirmed to pick up right after the events of Avengers: Endgame so watching this will explain A LOT (like really the entire fourth episode).

Wanda only makes a brief appearance in the movie and Vision isn’t in it at all but, the events are what lead Wanda to the place she is now in WandaVision.

Well, we hope you’ve got a bit bowl of popcorn to get through all of those! Once you’re caught up, check out all of the ways that WandaVision has been giving a nod to all these films in the Disney+ series!
