PHOTOS: Disney’s Eye-Catching Train Station Scrim Goes for a More “Subtle” Look in Magic Kingdom

There are several attractions under refurbishment at Disney’s Magic Kingdom right now, but none for as long as the Walt Disney World Railroad!

The train has been out of commission since 2018, when it took up a temporary residence at the Main Street USA train station while construction continued in Tomorrowland on the TRON coaster. Since the park reopened, the train station on Main Street has been used as a platform for characters to wave to guests, but now it seems that the station itself is getting some work done. We saw scrims go up not too long ago — but now they’ve been updated in an…interesting way!

On a visit to Magic Kingdom today, we noticed that the scrims covering the front of the train station had been artistically rendered to look a little less obvious.

Previously this wall of scrim was just a large tan rectangle, and it certainly didn’t hide the fact that construction was going on. Now, Disney has at least added the “Magic Kingdom” sign and the Christmas decor distracts the eye.

The makeover would look a tad more convincing if it weren’t for the fact that the photo was only added to the bottom half. We’ll have to keep a look out to see if more is added on top!

You can also still see the top of the station peeking out from behind the wall.

The Main Street, U.S.A. side got a lot more scrim added, with only the platform not hidden behind scrims.

On this side, there hasn’t been anything added, likely because this area is not quite as much of a photo spot, and when the characters are on the platform, they’re the real stars of the show.

  1. Perhaps they are getting ready to celebrate the anniversary coming up next year. Remember Mickey’s Birthday train back a while?
