Here Are All of the Major Disney Updates and News Items You May Have Missed Yesterday!

Yesterday was a rather hefty Disney news day! We learned a ton of interesting information and insight at the IAAPA Expo, which kicked off with a keynote from Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products Chair Josh D’Amaro.

Let’s recap some of the biggest Disney news stories that broke yesterday!

Disney World

We got a HUGE update regarding the opening timeline of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in EPCOT! The attraction, which was originally scheduled to open this past summer, will now be opening in 2021.

We don’t have any more specific information at this time regarding an opening date, but we at least now know that the attraction will not be opening in this calendar year.

Those anxiously awaiting the grand opening of Space 220 (like us!) got a first glimpse of the INSIDE of the restaurant!

After several delays, we’re crossing all of our fingers and toes that Space 220 will announce an opening date very soon!

Speaking of sneak peeks, we also got a first look yesterday inside one of the actual guest rooms at the upcoming Star Wars hotel, otherwise known as Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser!

This truly unique and one-of-a-kind overnight experiences will arrive at Disney World sometime in 2021.

Yesterday, Disney provided more information on their new 5th Cast Member Key, which stands for “Inclusion.” One of the ways Disney is integrating this key is by fast-tracking the Princess and the Frog re-theming coming to Splash Mountain!

This re-imagining of Splash Mountain will also come to Disneyland. An exact timeline has yet to be announced.

We also got a couple of sneak peeks at some of the new technology coming to Disney World! We got an update on the new Genie itinerary planning app, coming soon to a smart device near you!

We also got to check out Windows to the Wild, a new augmented reality experience coming to the parks that will allow guests to learn more about and interact with the animals that call Disney World home!

Despite Disney seeing setbacks in their latest fiscal year, it’s clear that the parks are operating on a “full steam ahead” strategy, to the best of their ability!

Disneyland

Over at Disneyland, we got a status report on the work being done on Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure. The land was originally scheduled to open in July, but Disneyland’s extended closure has delayed that process. Still, there’s plenty of work taking place!

We got to take a look at the Quinjet which has “landed” at the campus, as well as more insider looks!

As part of yesterday’s Avengers Campus update, we also got a first look at the W.E.B. Slingers ride vehicles! It’s thrilling to see so much progress happening during the closures!

We can’t wait to board these vehicles when the land finally opens to save Avengers Campus from Spider Bots!

We also got a brief update on the work happening at Disneyland on the upcoming attraction Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway! This ride opened in Disney’s Hollywood Studios back in March, and it is slowly but surely making its way to the west coast!

Now that the construction has gone vertical, we can see tons of progress taking place at the newest addition to Mickey’s Toon Town!

The family-friendly attraction is slated to open at Disneyland Park in 2023.

All of this progress, however, is against the backdrop of another big news story that came out of California yesterday. Orange County, where Disneyland is located, moved backwards to the most restrictive reopening tier.

At this time it’s hard to say exactly how long the county will remain in this “Purple” tier, it will definitely further prolong Disneyland’s already extended closure, which is now in its ninth month.

International News

We heard of some exciting updates from around the globe yesterday, too! Disneyland Paris shared some images of the work being done at their very own Avengers Campus!
