Dawa Bar Has Officially Reopened in Disney World (And Another Watering Hole Might Reopen Soon)

Months after Disney World’s reopening, many restaurants and bars have remained closed. But now we’re starting to see some of those locations opening back up.

Tusker House Restaurant and Dawa Bar

Most recently, we’ve seen the reopening of the Uzima Springs Pool Bar at Animal Kingdom Lodge, and we’ll soon see the reopening of Cinderella’s Royal Table at Magic Kingdom later this month.

This weekend, a fan-favorite watering hole has reopened at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The Dawa Bar opened yesterday (which is why the Disney World website page for the bar no longer said “temporarily unavailable” when we checked it yesterday).

When we visited the bar today, we saw that that it was open, and there were markers for social distancing. At the time, a Cast Member told us the wait was 30 to 35 minutes.

We also noticed that the bar had plexiglass dividers set up along the counter between Cast Members and guests.

The seating area had tables spread out to maintain physical distancing guidelines.

We noticed that the menu was exactly the same with bottled and draft beers, specialty beers, and ciders, as well as specialty cocktails.

We ordered the Ngumu Jungle Juice for $13, which is Snow Leopard Vodka and Bols Peach Schnapps with Tusker House Restaurant’s famous Jungle Juice.

On its own, the jungle juice — a blend of passion fruit, orange, and guava juices — is a long-time favorite, but it’s even better when spiked with vodka and schnapps.

Now, let’s extrapolate a little based on Dawa Bar reopening on the same day the “temporarily unavailable” note was removed from Disney World’s website. Another bar potentially set to open soon is the Courtyard Pool Bar at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. Like the Dawa Bar, the “temporarily unavailable” notice disappeared from its page on the Disney World website. But that page also does not list any hours for the bar.

Although there is no official word on when the Courtyard Pool Bar might reopen, this is certainly an indication that it could happen soon.

We’ll keep an eye on these reopenings, and let you know when we have more information.
