A Behind-the-Scenes Look at Hollywood Studios’ New Nighttime Show Opening May 1

Disney’s Hollywood Studios celebrates its 30th anniversary this Wednesday, May 1. Part of the celebration is the debut of an all-new nighttime show Wonderful World of Animation.

The new show combines state-of-the-art projection mapping technology with lasers, pyrotechnics, and of course audio to take us on a trip through 90 years of Disney animation.

The show is in the final phases of testing, and Disney shared this video of the testing along with some insights from the team working on the new show.

The show starts with Mickey Mouse in the classic short, black-and-white film Mickey’s Gala Premiere and transitions to color with Sorcerer Mickey in Fantasia. The show will  explore themes of magic, family, adventure, romance, villainy and friendship. Each theme is brought to life through moments from Disney and Pixar animated film such as Coco, The Incredibles, Sleeping Beauty, and Ralph Breaks the Internet.
