We ate here on 11/8/13 and both our service and food was excellent. I had the blue lump crab spring rolls, the filet, and the grapefruit cake. My DH had the lobster bisque, the duck two ways, and the cheesecake. The kids had soup, salad, pasta, grilled cheese, and both had the hidden treasure dessert. My spring rolls were great as was my filet. The dessert I ordered was not good. That, however, is personal taste and no knock on the dessert itself. The cake was moist, light and flavorful (just not a flavor I happened to like). I got the dessert because everyone raves about it (even though I don't care for grapefruit). Not my cup of tea, and now I know. My DH's soup was okay, but his duck was out of this world. The entire table was eating it. Both the boys said that the duck here was their favorite meal of the entire trip. If you like duck, I highly recommend this dish. His cheesecake was good, but different. The kids' liked their food (the salad was wonderful, as was the soup). They also enjoyed their fun little desserts.
Our server was so attentive without being suffocating. She was just lovely with the boys. It was my nephew's birthday, and she went out of her way to make it special for him. A gesture that was greatly appreciated.
This was our first time eating here, but will not be our last. We will be adding it to our "must" list (and, sadly, removing a few as well).

We always dine here once or twice on each trip that we make every October. Food is always great and have never had bad service. Only negative is the small waiting area while you are waiting for your assigned table. Always seems to be a big backup for reservations.
Pros:
Great food/service.Cons:

We ate here for lunch on November 2nd. My husband and I decided to pay for this meal so we could save our table service credits. We decided to share the cobb salad & grapefruit cake. I ordered it without bacon & eggs and unfortunately the waiter took it down correct but the chef/cooks prepared it incorrectly. So we had to wait even longer for a new salad while my entire family ate their lunch. By the time we got the new salad, our family was done eating. Other than the slow service, the food is always good here.

ADR for 6pm on 9/13 (LTM Utnleash the Villains). They were completely booked so our table wasn't ready right away. By the time we got our table, and food (which seemed to take a very long time), our 2 year old was in meltdown. So although the food was fantastic! we really didn't enjoy it because my husband and I were taking turns taking a 2 year old out of the restaurant.
That being said, we had a great server. In many trips to WDW, had never tried Brown Derby because I imagined it was overpriced and stuffy. We ordered the steak and it was wonderful. Not that much more expensive than meals elsewhere on property, if not using dining plan. We had 4 kids (ages 9 and under) and no one ever made us feel like they shouldn't be there. Will definitely try it again. Grapefruite cake was yummy - although I was the only one that appreciated it.

In my research for where to dine, reviews for The Brown Derby have not been kind. IGNORE all negative reviews. The Brown Derby was our diamond in the rough – our surprise. We took a chance and went against much of the norm, and it was worth it!
My husband ordered the Tuna (sushi style – rare) salad and when it came I wished I had ordered it. But I had ordered the famous Cobb, and it was JUST has decadent as his. Who knew that the Cobb could be such a richly favored salad? The Cobb at the Brown Derby is very very finely chopped; it is not in chunks, which probably leads to its satisfying taste.
We were honeymooning, and upon arrival they took our picture (we were celebrity guests) and then gave us a picture souvenir before we left. We had complimentary champagne and strawberries and the most attentive service. We decided to splurge on the Grapefruit Cake, and it was well-worth it. It bears noting that the table next to us had made a pilgrimage to eat this cake, and had T-Shirts to prove it. Yep… it’s worth the trek. The Brown Derby needs to get more praise. Dining there was one of our fondest lunches at Disney.

This is one of my favorite Disney World restaurants and it delivers consistently great food, wine/cocktails and service. It is a serene and upscale (but welcoming) retreat from the theme park. A bonus is you can often get a same day reservation. I only wish they would install a lounge/bar since they have some of the best cocktails and wine on property. And yes,the Cobb salad is the best ever!
Pros:
great food, great service, tranquility, decorCons:

We had a wonderful lunch at the Brown Derby! I was concerned about the negative reviews but our food was delicious and our server, Ashley, was exceptional! We had 11:35 lunch reservations so we were some of the first people there; we ordered 4 appetizers and 4 beers. The blue crab spring rolls and cobb salad were amazing and it was fun to taste beer we had never had before. We will definitely eat here on our next visit!

We are annual visitors of Disney and usually go to the Sci-Fi Drive In when we visit Hollywood Studios, but this year there were no reservations available, so we decided to try something new and ended up at the the Brown Derby. We are now in love with this place! Our server was amazing and went over and beyond to accommodate us (the hostess team was the same). The food we had was top notch and very well prepared. We ordered (party of 5) crab spring rolls and cobb salad as appetizers, bison, duck, and stuffed chicken for our entrees, and then we all had dessert. For dessert we ordered creme brulee, banana white chocolate mousse, and cheesecake. All were very good but our least favorite part of the meal. If not to hungry stick to the apps and entrees they were what made it all worthwhile.
Pros:
Fantastic Server & Excellent FoodCons:
Service was a little slow, not the best place for small kidsReviewed by cholmberg Review Date: 01/21/2013

This was our last meal on a ten day trip to Disney, on Jan 19th. We liked our server, Moses. Service was sometimes a bit slow, but we attributed that partially to him having a very large party, and several tables. He was very nice in accommodating my picky kids. I liked the decor, but the place was just downright NOISY. We were hoping for a somewhat quieter meal but no, it was just as noisy as most of the other Disney restaurants. I had the mushroom phyllo appetizer, and it was good, husband had the prawn and grits and liked it. We both had the filet and they were both cooked exactly to order and very good. We both had creme brulee for dessert and it was also very good.
