Hey you out there! This is Timothy Mouse, Dumbo’s best bud. We know you folks love to take pictures when you visit us so we got some help from a photographer. Lisa tooks some photos while flying high aboard Dumbo so you can see what Dumbo sees everytime he takes flight in Fantasyland. I’ll let her tell ya all about it and I’ll see ya later.
Last year with the help of some singing and dancing Cast Members, I went over Continuous Shooting and Continuous Shooting AF when photographing moving subjects. By way of Dumbo, we’re going to see what the results are of using Continuous Shooting AF (Autofocus) when we, the photographers, are the ones moving.
This icon represents Continuous Shooting AF.
My Canon PowerShot SX100 IS was dialed to P for Program, the ISO (film speed) set to 800 and Continuous Shooting AF turned on. Once I was airborne, I held the camera firmly, locked my elbows, aimed in one direction and kept my finger on the shutter button, depressing it the whole time. The camera focused before each and every photo was taken and there is a slight delay as one can expect from a point and shoot camera. In the end, I wound up with 31 photos of Fantasyland taken during the ride which lasts 2 to 3 minutes. Here are some of the unedited snapshots I got.
The lens was at its widest mm the entire time, I never zoomed in or out. Be aware that it is easy to slide in your seat so try to plant your feet in a position that’ll help you stay in place.
Don’t be disappointed if you don’t get fantastic shots. Photography is all about trial and error.
Give a try the next time you’re in Fantasyland or on a magic carpet ride in Adventureland as well as similiar attractions.
Seeing beyond the construction walls is always cool but I was especially thrilled at the minimal crowd level. In case you’re wondering when these photos were taken, September 30th at 10:30am.
Welcome back. Dumbo and I hope you enjoyed your trip. Come back and see us again soon.
Fly on over to my Facebook page.
