It has been a year full of construction at Disney World, as work continues on some big projects that are planned for the future!

There are tons of exciting things on the horizon at Disney World, especially in Magic Kingdom. Magic Kingdom is expanding by adding two new lands, Villains Land and Piston Peak. We haven’t seen much with Villains Land yet, but a lot of work has been done on Piston Peak. Speaking of, we want to update you!
On our most recent trip to the Magic Kingdom, we saw that there was new construction on the back of a Liberty Square building, where the Liberty Square Boat Landing used to be. This is a new addition to a structure under construction behind the Piston Peak construction walls.

The new structure is built against the back of an existing facade that used to be used for the extended queue of the Haunted Mansion.

This new structure is metal-framed, with a shed-style roof. It looked to be on a new concrete block foundation. One wall had a small arched opening framed into it.

Based on the location of Piston Peak, it’s been easier to get a glimpse of the construction site since construction began. Ever since Big Thunder Mountain Railroad opened, it has become so much easier to have a great vantage point to see into the area behind the walls. If you ride the popular attraction, you basically get a little behind-the-scenes peek every time.

We don’t have tons of information on the Cars-themed land and what it will bring in full detail. Although we have a feeling we’ll be getting a lot at this year’s D23 Expo! We know that one of the attractions featured will be an off-road-style ride similar to Radiator Springs Racers at Disney California Adventure.

This year’s D23 Expo is going to be a good one, as we’re hoping to get a lot of new details on all that’s coming to Disney World. That includes Magic Kingdom’s Piston Peak and Villain’s Land, Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s Tropical Americas, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ Monstropolis.

If you’re looking for a travel agent to help with your vacation, we recommend our friends at Mouse Fan Travel. They’re experts in the field with over 20 years of vacation planning experience, and they can help take a bunch of the stress out of the entire booking process for you!
We’re going to continue to keep watching all the construction taking place at Disney World. We’re so excited to see these new projects come to life in the future. For all the latest updates on everything going on at Disney, make sure to follow us at AllEars.
