Crocs have officially taken over Disney World. Everywhere you look, you’ll spot colorful pairs stomping through the parks, themed versions inspired by Disney characters, and even specialty designs that cost nearly as much as a park ticket upgrade.

And lately, Disney has only leaned harder into the trend. From character-themed charms to exclusive park designs and even Crocs-inspired Mickey ears, it’s clear these shoes aren’t going anywhere. But while plenty of Disney fans swear by them, not everyone on the AllEars team is convinced they’re the best choice for a long day in the parks. If you’re planning your next Disney World vacation, we’re sharing why Crocs remain surprisingly controversial and a few shoe alternatives we reach for instead.
Why We’re Not Sold on Crocs for Disney World
We know this opinion might ruffle a few feathers, but Crocs just aren’t our favorite Disney World shoe.

Several members of our team have tried to make Crocs work over the years. Some love them for gardening, quick errands, or splash pad visits with kids. In those situations, they make perfect sense. They’re lightweight, easy to clean, and convenient when water is involved. But Disney World is a completely different challenge.

One concern is support. While Crocs are comfortable for short periods, many of us find they don’t provide enough cushioning or stability for a full park day that can easily involve 20,000 steps or more. Others have had issues with traction, especially during Florida’s famous afternoon rainstorms. One team member spent an entire rainy EPCOT day slipping and sliding across wet walkways and hasn’t worn Crocs to the parks since.

Then there’s the safety factor. Crocs have a reputation for occasionally getting caught in escalators, which makes some guests nervous in busy park environments. We’ve also noticed Disney actively promotes them in certain locations, including near water attractions where guests may want a quick solution for wet shoes.

That said, we’re not completely anti-Croc. We love them for younger kids visiting splash pads, including the Moana water area in EPCOT, and they can be great for short bursts of wear. We just don’t think they’re the best option for tackling rope drop through fireworks.

If you’re looking for footwear that can better handle a full Disney day, these are the shoes we recommend instead.
Hoka Women’s Clifton 10
The Hoka Women’s Clifton 10 has become one of our favorite solutions for the biggest Disney World challenge: walking all day without your feet feeling destroyed by dinner time.

Disney vacations often involve miles of walking on concrete, and shoes that feel fine at home can quickly become uncomfortable in the parks. The Clifton 10 delivers the plush cushioning Hoka fans love while adding an updated fit, breathable jacquard upper, and extra underfoot comfort. The lightweight design helps reduce fatigue, making it a great choice for park hopping, long wait times, and marathon vacation days.
Brooks Men’s Ghost 17 Neutral Running Shoe
The Brooks Men’s Ghost 17 Neutral Running Shoe is one of those rare shoes that works equally well for runners, walkers, and travelers. That’s exactly why we think it’s a smart Disney World option.

When you’re spending sunrise to fireworks on your feet, comfort and support become essential. The Ghost 17 features nitrogen-infused cushioning, improved flexibility for smoother movement, and a breathable mesh upper that helps keep feet comfortable in Florida’s heat and humidity. We especially appreciate how versatile it is for guests who want one dependable shoe for their entire trip.
Teva Original Universal Sport Sandal
The Teva Original Universal Sport Sandal solves a different Disney World problem: keeping you comfortable around water without sacrificing grip and durability.

Many families need footwear that can handle splash zones, playgrounds, camp-style activities, and surprise rain showers. The quick-drying webbing, secure hook-and-loop closure, and grippy rubber outsole make these sandals a practical choice for all Disney visitors. Grab a pair for your family’s next vacation right here.
At the end of the day, footwear is one of the most personal decisions you’ll make for a Disney World vacation. We know plenty of guests who love their Crocs and wouldn’t dream of wearing anything else. For us, though, the combination of limited support, slippery conditions, and all-day comfort concerns makes them hard to recommend for a full park day. Whether you prefer cushioned running shoes or durable sandals for the kids, choosing the right footwear can make a huge difference in how your vacation feels by the end of the week.
In the meantime, we’ll be keeping an eye out for the latest Disney deals, so make sure you stay tuned to AllEars for more!
