5 Things I’ll Never Buy Again in EPCOT’s Mexico Pavilion

When I am in EPCOT, you can likely find me in the Mexico Pavilion, and because I’ve spent a lot of time there, there are a few things I’ve learned the hard way not to purchase!

Mexico Pavilion

Between the tacos, the festive drinks, and the unique souvenirs, you can easily spend $50 in Mexico fast. We all know Disney World is expensive, so it’s good to know what is actually worth your money and what you should skip buying. These 5 things are things I would avoid purchasing when visiting the Mexico pavilion.

1. Waiting in a long line at La Cava del Tequila

La Cava del Tequila is iconic, but if that line is spilling out into the pavilion, we’re out. Instead, we’ll head straight to Choza de Margarita and grab one of their refreshing options like the Cucumber Margarita. You still get a great drink without sacrificing a huge chunk of park time.

2. The Avocado Margarita

This one sounds intriguing, but in reality, it leans more toward a smoothie than a classic margarita. If you’re craving something refreshing and tequila-forward, you’re better off ordering a regular margarita. Then, if you want avocado in your life, grab the guacamole from Choza instead! And a marg and guac combo rarely fails!

3. The Giant Sombrero

Sure, it looks fun in the moment, but that giant sombrero becomes a burden fast. By the time the afternoon heat and crowds hit, you’ll be annoyed you’re carrying it around. It’s a cute idea that rarely makes it through the whole day without regret. Also, what are you realistically going to do with it once you get home?

4. Waiting in a long line at La Cantina de San Angel

La Cantina has solid quick-service options, but the lack of mobile ordering means lines can get long and fast. If that happens, we’d rather pivot to a nearby festival booth and keep moving. You’ll often get something just as tasty with way less waiting.

5. Ordering the cheese dip as an appetizer at the restaurant

Here’s a little money-saving tip: the cheese dip from La Cantina is the same one served inside the table service restaurants. Grab it as a snack instead of ordering it as an appetizer, and you’ll save a few bucks. Same delicious queso, less damage to your budget.
