There are a LOT of closures in Disney World right now. We’ve actually taken to calling the parks Wall Disney World thanks to the construction eyesores.
Some of these closures are permanent, while others are just temporary. Luckily for us, we finally know when a popular Animal Kingdom attraction will reopen just in time for the holiday season.
Kali River Rapids is reopening SOON in Disney World! The popular water ride in Animal Kingdom has been closed since October 6th, 2025, but we finally know when you can get splashed again.
The water raft ride is finally reopening on December 12th, 2025! This closure wasn’t an unusual one, as the attraction closes each year during the colder months. We know it’s hard to believe, but yes, it does get colder in Florida!
A Cast Member did tell us that a fair amount of wood on the attraction is expected to be replaced. Animal Kingdom is going through a major amount of change, and with Kali River Rapids closed, there are only 5 rides operating in the park. You could argue 6 if you include the Wildlife Express Train, although many people don’t loop it into the rides category.
Right now, Disney is busy adding a new land to this park inspired by the Tropical Americas. The new land, called Pueblo Esperanza, will feature 3 new attractions inspired by Encanto and Indiana Jones, as well as a family-friendly carousel.
The new land is replacing DinoLand U.S.A., meaning we’re losing a classic attraction, DINOSAUR. This ride closes permanently on February 2nd, 2026, so we’re glad Kali will be reopened by then, ensuring some thrill remains in the park. We aren’t the biggest fans of water rides (at least this writer isn’t!), but we are aware that the park needs every ride it can get right now!
