Your Lightning Lane Strategy Needs to CHANGE in Magic Kingdom

Lightning Lanes are one of the best ways to skip the lines at Disney World, but now it’s changed again! Ah!

If you’re purchasing a Lightning Lane Multi Pass in Magic Kingdom, check this out before you start planning out your day.

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin has officially closed in Magic Kingdom as of August 4th for a long refurbishment and therefore, is off the Lightning Lane Multi Pass list.

Don’t worry! There are still lots to choose from.

For your top-tier attractions, you can choose from one of the following:

• • Jungle Cruise
  • Peter Pan’s Flight
  • Space Mountain
  • Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

You can choose two (or all three if you don’t choose a top-tier attraction) of the following:

• • The Barnstormer
  • Dumbo the Flying Elephant
  • Haunted Mansion
  • “it’s a small world”
  • Mad Tea Party
  • The Magic Carpets of Aladdin
  • The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
  • Mickey’s PhilharMagic
  • Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor
  • Pirates of the Caribbean
  • Tomorrowland Speedway
  • Under the Sea — Journey of The Little Mermaid

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is getting a major transformation during this refurbishment. A brand new scene is being added with a character named Buddy, who will teach you how to play the game.

The ride vehicles are getting a new design to match the colors of Buzz Lightyear and Star Command. There will be a video monitor that will provide real-time scoring, and there will now be handheld blasters!

There will even be two different colored lasers from each vehicle, so you know who’s hitting the targets. Speaking of targets, they’re being upgraded to react and light up when hit. Sounds like it will be a lot easier to become a Galactic Hero!

The attraction is set to reopen sometime in 2026, and as someone who grew up competing against my family on the ride, I’m ready to be able to pick up my blaster and earn points so much easier. Don’t be surprised if once it opens, you see me riding it time and time again, practicing to win against my parents when they visit!
