I’m Distraught Over This Permanent CLOSURE in Disney’s Hollywood Studios…But Not for the Reason You Think

Hollywood Studios is changing, and it’s not entirely for the better.

In June of 2025, Hollywood Studios bid adieu to Muppet*Vision 3D and PizzeRizzo as the area of Grand Avenue once known as Muppet Courtyard is set to be demolished to make way for construction of the new Monsters, Inc. area. While many are lamenting the loss of Muppet*Vision and… uh… we’re sure there’s someone who will miss the “rat pizza”, the removal of the area also means the loss of something else that we’re going to miss in Hollywood Studios.

The loss of the aforementioned courtyard, and PizzeRizzo especially, has also led to the loss of two things Hollywood Studios is in desperate need of: Shade and cool seating areas.

The restaurant featured a large amount of shade-covered seating outside…

… as well as several air-conditioned seating areas inside, including the themed party room upstairs.

Due to the restaurant’s size, there were often large swaths of empty tables and ample available seating and space to spread out for those in need of a cool break from the sun, whether they were eating or not. This is especially necessary in Hollywood Studios, as some of the park’s most populous areas — we’re looking at you, Toy Story Land — are mostly lacking in shade.

Furthermore, this closure will likely lead to the park’s other shaded/cool areas becoming even more congested during the construction process.

We’re looking forward to Hollywood Studios’ upcoming Monsters, Inc. land, but its construction is costing the park a lot, even beyond Muppet*Vision 3D. Stay tuned to AllEars for more on Hollywood Studios’ transformation.
