When you are on vacation, you deserve to treat yourself!

Whether that be by going to the spa, dining at a fancy restaurant, going on a shopping spree, or splurging on a hotel upgrade, you deserve to relax; you earned it! Now, we are not here to burst your bubble; instead, we are here to help you save some cash. If you are thinking about indulging in hotel upgrades on your next trip to Disney World, we recommend steering clear of these four upgrades.
Some Disney World hotel upgrades are totally worth it, especially if Cast Members want to make extra magic and upgrade you and your party for free, but if you are thinking about potentially upgrading on your own dime, we suggest avoiding these four upgrades.

1. View Upgrades
Some hotels have really incredible views of Disney World. For example, the monorail resorts have Magic Kingdom views. The only time we would ever upgrade our view is for a theme park view specifically.

Otherwise, terms like “water view” or “wood view” are pretty vague.” A water view could mean anything like a fountain or pool, which can be a letdown if you were expecting a view of Crescent Lake or Bay Lake, depending on the hotel you are staying at.

If you are staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge, odds are, if you have a standard view, you will still be able to see the savannah without having to pay for a savannah view.

2. Valet
Valet prices have just gone up at Disney World, and while it can feel fancy to have your car parked and brought to you, this can add up, especially when you are valeting overnight. Now, there is nothing wrong with valeting for a nice meal, but if you are planning on using Disney transportation throughout your trip anyway, save the money and keep your car in self-park.

3. Cabana Rentals
We are huge fans of rest days on our trips to Disney World, and you should totally take advantage of all the amenities your Disney World resort has to offer, including the pool. While we know some people can be selfish, reserving pool chairs and a cabana rental seems like a good idea, they can be expensive. Plus, in order to get your money’s worth, you may feel like you need to spend the entire day at the pool.

4. Preferred Room Upgrades
Depending on the resort you stay at, you can stay in a Standard or Preferred room. A Standard room is cheaper, and a Preferred room is more expensive and tends to be in a more ideal location.

The only time we would suggest splurging for this upgrade is at Value Resorts and Caribbean Beach. These resorts are huge, and paying for a Preferred room can bring you closer to one or all of the following: lobby, pool, and transportation. This really works well for some people, especially at these larger resorts; otherwise, a Standard room is a fine option.

Save your money for splurges that will really get you something, like a spa treatment or a bigger room! As we said, it is your vacation, and you deserve to treat yourself. For more Disney World tips and all the latest Disney news, make sure to continue to follow along with AllEars.
