Who’s ready for an embarrassing story?

Well, strap in, friends, because you’re about to hear one about my second to last Disney World trip, which was in late September. Yes, the trip where I got evacuated off of two rides in the span of about 3 hours and Hurricane Helene was passing by (but mercifully spared Orlando!). This particular story takes place on Magic Kingdom’s newest ride, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and I’ll start off strong by revealing the whole message of the story: CLOSE YOUR MOUTH.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is the former home of Splash Mountain, meaning it’s got all those smaller drops before you hit the MASSIVE 52-foot drop that the attraction is known for. I got to ride it for the first time on this trip…well, most of it. I got stuck and evacuated right before the big drop, but at least I got to experience 75% of the ride!

Anyway, don’t underestimate those smaller drops! They certainly can splash you and get you sufficiently wet, especially if you’re in the front like I was. However, the real lesson here is to PLEASE close your mouth when you’re on those smaller drops, or else you’re at risk of getting water in your mouth and…I’m sorry to say that I unfortunately did and can now tell you in great detail what the water tastes like.

And holy GROSS. Batman, it was AWFUL. I mean, not like I was expecting for it to taste good (I didn’t WANT to taste it at all, but here we are), but I was not prepared for the overly salty/chemical taste that wouldn’t leave my mouth until I got some water, which was AFTER I got stuck on the ride and had to sit there for 20+ minutes, then run to Pecos Bill to grab a free cup of water to refill my water bottle.

I can recall the taste now as I’m sitting here at home, 400+ miles from the parks. Has it stopped me from wanting to get on the ride again? No, not necessarily, but you can BET that I’ll be screaming with my mouth closed on all water rides from now on, because I am NOT reliving this experience.
Let’s hope the next time I’m in Disney World, which is next week at the time of writing (whoo hoo!), I’ll be able to fully ride this attraction with no hiccups or evacuations — I’ll be sure to keep you updated on my adventure, so stay tuned to AllEars!
