One of Disney World’s busiest quick-service dining locations has added some NEW menu items.

Located in Frontierland at the Magic Kingdom, the Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe is well known for Mexican-style fare, including fajita platters, southwestern salads, and mini churros with dipping chocolate. Recently, the location has gotten a menu OVERHAUL. We tried seven of the new items, so let’s go check them out!
Steamed Tamale
The steamed tamale offering has a choice of beef, pork, or chicken as a protein and features a steamed green chili-cheese tamale with stewed pinto beans, queso fresco, and pico de gallo.

This $13.99 tamale offering was probably our favorite of the four new entrees we sampled. The blend of spices, peppers, and cheeses was fantastic, and really brought out the flavor in the chicken. The tamale did have a bit of a spicy kick to it though, the peppers in particular.

We would also advise maybe grabbing a spoon instead of a fork, as our tamale got quite soft quite quickly.

• Rice Bowl — $12.99
• Double Chili con Queso Burger — $16.49

Rice Bowl
Like the tamales, the rice bowls are offered with beef, chicken, or rice as a protein base. They feature pinto beans, cilantro-lime rice, cowboy caviar, and queso fresco.

We chose to sample the new $12.99 rice bowl offering with beef. Speaking of, a new big difference to note: Pecos Bill no longer offers ground beef. Instead, the beef option is glazed beef with consistency similar to pot roast. We actually found this new offering flavorful, but be forewarned if you were expecting ground beef.

Services: Quick Service
With the new beef out of the way, we have to say we enjoyed this bowl. The beef, rice, beans, cheese, and pico were all perfectly balanced for a delicious taste. It was also quite large, providing a more than filling meal, especially for the price point.
Double Chili con Queso Burger
This burger offering features two patties topped with chili con carne, chipotle queso, and corn chips.

This double patty burger costs $16.49 and wasn’t a particular favorite of ours. While the corn chips give it a nice crunch, it didn’t feel like anything special, and the two patties make it quite thick to eat. In addition, it felt a bit out of place given the more “authentic” Latin foods on the menu.

We did really enjoy the pinto beans this burger came with however.

Southwest Caesar Salad
This salad is available with beef, pork, or chicken and features romaine lettuce tossed in salsa verde dressing, pepitas, queso fresco, pico de gallo, and tortilla strips.

We grabbed this salad with pork for $12.99. We found the new pork to be an improvement over the restaurant’s previous pork options, with a fresh pull-apart consistency. The crunchy tortilla chips, pico, and tortilla cheese add a great deal of flavor, and the salad itself had a nice crunchy consistency.

Barbecue-Cheddar Seasoned Fries
We really enjoyed these fries, which are available as a standalone menu item for $4.99 or as a side. They have a bit of a BBQ chip flavor to them. Of note, the fries aren’t slathered in melted cheddar cheese as the name may suggest. Instead, the cheddar flavor and aftertaste comes from the fries’ seasoning.

Mexican Chocolate and Horchata Verrine

We’re a bit torn on this one. We wanted to like this $5.49 horchata offering, but outside of the cute presentation, it was just kind of there. The horchata itself was a bit lost between the layers of chocolate mousse.

Sweet Corn Mousse
We’ve seen this sweet corn mousse several times at special events like Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween party.

It’s a cute and fun dessert for $6.29, though we’d definitely recommend skipping it if you’re not a fan corn flavor.

Pecos Bill has added several new menu items, and we say give them a try! Stay tuned to AllEars for further Walt Disney World dining updates.
