There is a BIG change at Disney World!

One of Magic Kingdom’s newest attractions is changing how you experience it beginning today.
TRON Lightcycle / Run has officially started utilizing a standby line. This roller coaster attraction opened in Magic Kingdom in April 2023 with the virtual queue system.

Well, the virtual queue is no more at TRON Lightcycle / Run. As of today, September 9th, TRON has transitioned over to offering a standby line. Now, if you would like to experience the attraction, you will have two options. The first option is to join the normal, standby line. You can find the current wait time in the My Disney Experience app.

The second option is to purchase a Lightning Lane Single Pass for TRON Lightcycle / Run. The Lightning Lane Single Pass is an a la carte skip the line service. The Lightning Lane Single Pass will be purchased specifically for TRON Lightcycle / Run and will allow you to enter the Lightning Lane entrance one time during the window you select.

We stopped by Magic Kingdom this morning to check out what the crowds looked like for TRON Lightcycle / Run. There were definitely lots of people taking advantage of the standby line!

At 9AM, when the park opened for all guests, the attraction had a wait time of 45 minutes, but it quickly rose to a 105 minute wait by 9:10AM. However, the wait dropped down to 90 minutes by 9:20AM and 70 minutes by 9:30AM. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure already had a longer wait time than TRON by 9:40AM.

We got in line at 9:08AM when the wait time was posted at 105 minutes. We started all the way by Cool Ship, but it only took us about 40 minutes to make it inside. When we went through they were not running the preshow. Overall, the total wait time at rope drop was just under an hour.

However, by 11AM the wait time had already dropped to 30 minutes! We were not expecting to see such a low wait time today, but it seems like TRON may not be the best ride to head to for rope drop. We wait just under an hour at rope drop, but just two hours later you only need to wait 30 minutes. Of course, the high wait time may just be today as it is the first day of the standby line.

While TRON Lightcycle / Run is no longer using the virtual queue system, there are still two attractions at Disney World that are. Both Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in EPCOT are still utilizing the virtual queue system. As of right now, Disney has not announced an end date for the virtual queue at either of these attractions.

We will be keeping an eye on TRON as it begins its first day operating with a standby line. While the attraction has utilized a standby line for after hours events like Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, this is the first time the attraction will be using a standby line during normal operating hours.
