7 Things You'll Regret Bringing to Magic Kingdom

The day is finally here! You’ve planned your Disney World vacation, and you’ve arrived ready to hit the parks.

Of course, we get extra excited to visit Magic Kingdom, because is there anything more iconic than walking down Main Street, U.S.A. and seeing Cinderella Castle for the first time? But before you leave for Magic Kingdom, we’ve got to warn you about things you should probably not bring with you.

A park bag that’s too small

Although you might not want to carry a big bag around the parks, you still need a bag that can carry all your essentials, including a water bottle, a poncho (for those sudden Florida storms), sunscreen, a mobile charger, and more. Plus you might want to have a bag big enough to store some of your purchases in.

You need the right size for your park bag!

So you’ll have to decide just exactly what size of bag you might need. We are big fans of Loungefly’s mini backpacks because they seem to be perfect for all our essentials AND they’re super cute, too.

Metal glasses cases

Okay, we really like those metal glasses cases for our sunglasses, but there’s one big problem with them. They will set off the metal detector at security every time, and you’ll get pulled aside so security can go through your bag.

If you DO insist on carrying one of these cases, though, you can pull it out of your bag ahead of time and hold it in front of you, so security can see it. This should keep you from having to go through an additional search.

New shoes

We get it — you bought a brand new pair of shoes to wear to Magic Kingdom. You’ve even saved them for the trip. Well, that’s just a bad idea to begin with.

Break your shoes in BEFORE you go to Disney World

If you have new shoes to take to Disney World, wear them first and get them broken in. Otherwise, your feet could suffer. New shoes always need a bit of wear to be as comfy as they can be, so keep that in mind before your trip.

Oversized wagons, strollers, bags, and coolers

If you’ve got a wagon or a huge stroller, bag, or cooler, you can’t bring them into Magic Kingdom. By can’t, we mean Disney World has prohibited these items from the parks. That includes stroller wagons and strollers that are greater than 31″in width and 52″ in length.

This also includes “Any trailer-like object that is pushed, pulled or towed by an Electric Conveyance Vehicle, wheelchair, stroller or person,” as well as “wheeled mobility devices with less than 3 wheels or devices.” Finally, you can’t bring in suitcases, bags, coolers, or backpacks larger than 24″ long x 15″ wide x 18″ high.

Other prohibited items

Disney has a full list of prohibited items on its website (you can read the rules here). This includes firearms, ammunition, knives, weapons, toys that look like weapons, self defense or restraining devices, marijuana or other illegal substances, fireworks, alcoholic beverages, glass containers (except for small jars of baby food), noise makers, and recreational devices.

You’re also not allowed to bring in selfie sticks and folding chairs. We recommend you read over Disney World’s rules before your trip.

Individual bags or backpacks for your children

It might seem like a good idea to have your kids carry their own bags and backpacks, but they’re kids, and you know what that means. At some point, they’ll get tired of carrying their own stuff and you’ll be the one who ends up carrying it.
