It’s raining, it’s pouring…
Rain is a fact of life at Disney World. The subtropical Central Florida climate that made the resort’s existence possible also brings near-daily rainstorms during the summer. Which in-turn means that good rain gear is one of the most important things you can pack for a Disney trip.
We’ve looked at the two bestselling raincoats available on Amazon to see which is the better option to pick up for your next WDW trip.
First up, there’s the Cosowe Rain Poncho.
This jacket, which comes in a set of two on Amazon, does definitely have its pros. First off, it goes on like a jacket as opposed to over the head like many ponchos, including Disney’s. The sleeve buttons are also a nice addition, as they help to keep rain out of the sleeves.
However, that said, the weren’t the best of the two! For starters, the material and long sleeves make us feel like we’re being “steamed” inside the poncho. In addition, the tightness of the jacket made it hard to wear a backpack underneath it, which means that our backpack was exposed to the rain.
Next up came the Frogg Togg and we…
…LOVED IT!
The Frogg Togg might be our brand new ideal Disney rainwear. This poncho — available on Amazon in multiple colors, including this striking hot pink — had several features that we simply adored. The material allowed the rain to slip right off, and between that and the lack of sleeves, we didn’t feel steamed or hot underneath. On top of the that, the pinch was large enough that our backpack was able to fit underneath it comfortably, while still keeping the bag and out back completely covered from the rain.
If all that wasn’t enough, the poncho even comes with a waterproof storage bag, meaning we were able to quickly pack it up and throw it in our backpack as soon as the storm ended without worrying about anything in there getting wet. Seriously the BEST poncho we’ve ever tried. Emma, who isn’t really a poncho girly, likes this one so much that it has become an essential she throws in her bag daily. That’s HUGE, y’all.
While we definitely preferred the Frogg Togg and had our issues with the Cosowe poncho, both of these rain options are better than the Disney-produced alternatives, and we would definitely recommend picking one up before your next Disney World trip.
