“They Designed an Entire Land Around the Worst Movie I’ve Seen in My Life” – Fans React to Latest Epic Universe News

We are less than a year away from the opening timeline of Epic Universe (currently slated for “in time for Summer 2025”) and we couldn’t be more excited!

Universal just revealed the first in-depth look at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, one of the five new lands coming to the new park. While many Universal and Harry Potter fans have been extremely excited to hear more about this new land, it appears that the announcement hasn’t exactly landed the way Universal wanted it to with some fans.

To be specific, one X (formerly Twitter) user shared the following tweet in response to the unveiling of the new land, saying, in part, “They really designed an entire land around the worst movie I’ve ever seen in my life.”

It is true that the second and third Fantastic Beasts films did not do too well, especially compared to the first. The first film, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, has a 7.2/10 rating on IMDB, while the second film, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, has a 6.5/10 rating. The last film, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, has the lowest rating of 6.2/10.

However, the Ministry of Magic has long been part of the Harry Potter universe, so having this section of the land makes perfect sense to others. Placing the rest of the land in Paris is an interesting choice, but when you think about it, we already have Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley, which are two of the most prominent areas in the main series. There aren’t many additional options to choose to make an entire land out of, so we understand why the decision was made.

In Universal’s announcement, it was also mentioned that guests will enter the Ministry of Magic in a never-before-seen way — through the Floo system in the fireplaces (how Wizards can get around in the Harry Potter universe)! We’re very excited to see this come to life, and we’re not alone — based on comments, it appears most fans are looking forward to experiencing this.

There will also be one ride in the new land, which is called Harry Potter and The Battle at The Ministry. This new attraction has “first-of-its-kind ride technology” and will begin with guests traveling through the Floo network to get into the Ministry, where the long-awaited trial of Dolores Umbridge is taking place that day. All goes well until Umbridge tries to escape, and guests will join Harry, Ron, Hermione, and a house elf named Higgledy in a thrilling chase.

Some commenters feel this looks too similar to the Kuka arm that Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey uses in Universal’s Islands of Adventure, but others were quick to point out that it can’t be since then it wouldn’t be “first-of-its-kind” technology. Others pointed out the design looks similar to the Tower of Terror in Disney World, and perhaps it’s a more advanced system similar to that ride vehicle. Regardless, we can’t wait to try it out when it opens!

  1. I must be the only one who absolutely loved The Crimes of Grindelwald. That being said, the guy that said it was the worst film he’d ever seen in his entire life needs to watch more movies. Dude clearly has zero film education.

  2. This is not the first time Universal has done something like this.
Universal Studios in California has a stunt show based on Kevin Costner’s horrible movie WaterWorld… the stunt show is amazing, however.

  3. The ride is most similar in technology to Spiderman and Transformers, not Tower of Terror or Forbidden Journey, despite what it looks like. It’s a Spiderman ride vehicle with a Star Tours lift system to raise and lower it.

  4. Well, I also am not a fan of Crimes of Grindelwald, but I am so excited about seeing so many of the creatures/fantastic beasts in this new Wizarding World. If I could just do ONE thing in Epic Universe, attending the circus show to watch the beasts that are in Newt’s stolen case (and to see the bits that Eddie Redymane filmed for Epic Universe) is the most exciting.

  5. Crimes of Grindelwald was probably my least favorite wizarding world movie, but I am still excited about the potential of visiting wizarding Paris and ESPECIALLY of seeing the live (well, compounded show with animatronics, lie actors and more) based on Newts stolen case and creatures. I am so thrilled to see the increased used of fantastic beasts. Actually, the two things I am most excited about in Epic Universe are shows, the one in How to Train Your Dragon and the circus in the Wizarding World. If I never got on a ride, I would want to go just for the shows. Now, I do plan to ride some rides, but the shows are higher priority to me.
