We’ve been watching closely for announcements of NEW Disney projects, after they pledged to invest $60 billion in capital projects over the next 10 years.

“You can pretty much conclude that they’ll be all over, meaning every single one of our locations will be the beneficiary of increased investment and, thus, increased capacity,” Disney CEO Bob Iger said during the company’s earnings call earlier this month. But we’ve found one project in particular that’s in the works that no one — even Disney — is saying much about!
In that same earnings call, Iger went on to say “we’re currently building three more ships.” And that got a lot of reaction — we saw people on social media question that number — THREE ships?

We know about the Disney Treasure — which is setting sail from Florida in December 2024. This ship is the same class as the Disney Wish. We’re really excited to see the NEW restaurant coming to the ship — Plaza de Coco, and lounges themed around the Haunted Mansion and Jungle Cruise!

Ship No. 2 is the Disney Adventure. This is the ship that Disney bought when it was partially built, from another cruise line that went under. The Disney Adventure will set sail in 2025 from a new home port for Disney Cruise Line — Singapore!

But what about that THIRD ship? Yes, Disney has a third ship under construction in Germany! This ship was announced at the D23 Expo (Disney’s fan convention) back in 2017. Its construction was delayed because of the COVID-19 global pandemic, but it is still underway, and scheduled to set sail in 2025. So WHY is no one talking about it?

Well, no one’s talking about because Disney really isn’t talking much about it. I mean, we don’t even have a name for this ship yet. And I guess I understand that — Disney is focusing on what’s coming NEXT, rather than what’s coming down the road. That’s only natural.

What Disney IS talking about is the Disney Cruise Line projects launching in 2024:
- The Disney Treasure’s inaugural cruise will be December 21st, 2024.
- And Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point — Disney’s new island destination — is opening in June 2024.
And we have reason to believe we’ll see MORE Disney Cruise Line expansion in the next few years!

When talking about the future of the cruise line, Iger told investors, “In a business that is obviously extremely positive to us, we may look expansively, at least in the next decade in that direction.”
We’ll be keeping up with all the Disney Cruise Line announcements, so stay tuned to AllEars!
