Are you a Disney+ subscriber?

We’re guessing you probably are, especially if you’re a Disney fan (you are HERE, after all), love all the Star Wars shows, or love all the Marvel content on the streaming platform. Recently, Disney announced it would crack down on password sharing, though, and we think we just got a hint about the future of that new policy.
Recently, Canadian Disney+ subscribers received emails about new account-sharing rules that would be put in place as of November 1st. However, in the U.S., Disney CEO Bob Iger stated that account sharing would be restricted with a price increase for ad-free tiers of the streaming service.

Well, we think we may have just received a hint on a survey that we got after a trip to EPCOT.

The survey asked us various questions about Disney World and our most recent trip, but then it changed topics and started to ask us about our “current usage of various subscription-based, video-on-demand streaming services.” What really piqued our interest, though, is that the survey said “It is understood that most streaming services allow for multiple profiles, streaming of varying content for multiple devices simultaneously under one account, and that sharing accounts is quite common.”

After answering which streaming services we subscribed to, we were asked who the primary account holder was for each.

So what does this mean? Well, it seems that Disney is trying to see which streaming services we subscribe to that offer sharing and how popular those are. This may mean Disney is reconsidering its password-sharing policy or trying to figure out the best way to enact it here in the U.S. It’s certainly something Disney IS considering, though, so we’ll have to see how it all plays out.
