NEWS: Disney Cruise Line’s Newest Ship Will Begin Sailing Summer 2022

At the 2019 D23 Expo, it was announced that Disney Cruise Line would be building a fifth ship to join its fleet. This new ship, the Disney Wish, would join the Dream, Fantasy, Wonder, and Magic, in offering guests a cruise experience on Disney could provide!

The Wish was originally scheduled to make its maiden voyage in early 2022, however that has been delayed due to the global pandemic.

We have already heard, from Walt Disney Company CFO Christine McCarthy, that Disney Cruise Line would be the last business to come back under the Disney umbrella. While early 2022 itineraries have been announced, those sailings did not include the Disney Wish.

As of this writing, the Disney Wish is set to begin sailing during the summer of 2022. The setback comes after a series of delays at the Meyer-Werft shipyard in Germany, where the Disney Wish is being built.

The existing four Disney Cruise Line ships continue to see delays for when they can resume sailing as well. Currently, Disney has suspended all upcoming departures through December of 2020. We’ll continue to monitor the progress being made on the Disney Wish, especially as we learn more about upcoming itineraries aboard the new ship!
