Despite a lot of things reopening at Disney World, there are still some lengthy closures that you’ll need to work your way around.

We’re entering a good season at Disney World! Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starring The Muppets is opening at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin just reopened at Magic Kingdom, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is reopening at Magic as well. However, there is still construction you need to be aware of, especially with this new permit.
Disney World’s Wilderness Lodge Resort is one of Disney’s best deluxe resort hotels. It’s a gorgeous resort, and it offers several ways to get around Disney World, including boat transportation.

Despite being one of Disney World’s best deluxe resorts, it’s not in perfect shape at the moment. Wilderness Lodge, along with Copper Creek Villas & Cabins, has been undergoing refurbishment for quite some time now. The construction period is set to go through late 2026; however, a new permit filed by Disney could hint otherwise.

Disney just filed a permit with a new expiration date for the construction, that date being April 14th, 2027. That’s one year from now!

Now, just because the expiration date is set for April of next year doesn’t mean construction will last till then. The construction just can’t be done AFTER the expiration date of the permit, but the fact that it was filed could mean we’re in for a longer construction period.

Speaking of refurbishment, the boat dock at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is undergoing routine maintenance once again. They officially closed on April 13th and will be closed through late July 2026.

With the construction going on, don’t feel like you CAN’T book to stay here for your Disney vacation this year. Disney usually does a good job of staying out of the way of guests, but this construction work could limit views at the hotel. You’ll also see and hear construction being done during the day at the resort. Most amenities at the hotel will remain open, so it shouldn’t be too much of an inconvenience.
