Who’s ready to ring in the New Year? We have our button ready to go, and the countdown is on. After Christmas, it’s just a quick couple more days before we’re all watching the ball drop and the fireworks blasting. We can’t wait to see what 2026 has in store!

Speaking of 2026, are you headed to Disney World in the new year? We’re sure it’s going to be a fun year at the parks, but we hope you’ve started planning. As you think about your upcoming trip, we want to offer you a new “rule” to consider for the theme parks. With everything going on at Disney World right now, you’ll definitely want to embrace this rule!
2026 is going to be a busy year for Walt Disney Imagineers. All around the resort, you’ll see tons of construction walls up, blocking your view of the work being done on new lands and experiences. Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios ALL have construction walls up as we head into 2026, and many of them will be in place throughout the year.

The construction walls and closures of many rides and experiences are likely going to turn many people off from visiting Disney World in 2026. For example, at the beginning of 2026, DinoLand, U.S.A. will be completely closed, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will still be closed, Muppets Courtyard is closed, Animation Courtyard is closed, and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will be closing.
But our tip to you? Don’t let them! Don’t let all the construction stop you from having a great Disney World vacation in the coming year.

Since there’s so much construction happening at the parks, it might be entirely possible that a lot of people opt to wait to visit until all the experiences are open in 2027 or later. That could mean that you’ll see fewer crowds in the parks in 2026, giving you a more chill trip.

If you’re willing to deal with the construction and all the walls around the parks, you might come out ahead in 2026. Yes, seeing a bunch of construction walls as you’re enjoying the parks isn’t pretty or fun, but they could drive away a good number of people, and we’re all for lower crowds!

We’re likely going to see many of the construction walls up for a while yet. The Tropical America land (Pueblo Esperanza), Villains Land, the new Cars Land, and Monsters, Inc. Land will most likely not open for a couple of years (Disney has not provided a timeline for these lands).

However, if you brave the construction walls, you could be some of the lucky few who experience Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Featuring the Muppets, and the new Walt Disney Studios area at Hollywood Studios when they first (re)open in 2026!

There may be a lot of construction going on at Disney World right now, but don’t let it stop you from having a great vacation in 20206!
