Epic Universe has been open for less than a year, but we’ll be honest — there are some REALLY solid food establishments here that we miss when we’re not in the park!

We got word that there were THREE new dining options available in the park, one in Isle of Berk and two in Celestial Park, and knew we had to get in to try them ASAP. One of them is only around for the holiday season, and when we tell you our jaws are on the GROUND, we mean it with every fibre of our being.
Starting off strong, we headed over to Spit Fyre Grill in Isle of Berk to grab the new Snoggletog Harvest Cone for $18.99. This is a Creamy mac & cheese cone with pulled maple glazed turkey, spiced lingonberry drizzle, roasted sweet potatoes, sage chimichurri, crispy stuffing crumbles. You can also grab it at Hooligan’s Grog & Gruel.

Snoggletog is what the people of Berk celebrate around this season (the holiday season, for us), and this new cone is an AMAZING way to celebrate. You can taste every single flavor in this cone, and it’s incredible — it really is like a Thanksgiving feast in your mouth! It was soft and pliable in the best way, since some of the more crispy cones are harder to eat, and the mac and cheese was delicious and creamy as always.

The maple glazed turkey was *chef’s kiss* with a perfect texture and flavor, and the spiced lingonberry drizzle reminded us of cranberry sauce in the best way. Our only complaint here was that all those different flavors/topping are just sitting on top rather than throughout the cone, so once you get past the top, it’s just the mac and cheese — still delicious, just not as unique. We think it’d be even better if the toppings were all throughout the dish, so try and mix them around as much as you can. We certainly recommend giving it a try this holiday season though!

Then we headed over to The Oak & Star Tavern in Celestial Park for the two new offerings over there. The first is the Loaded Brisket Mac and Cheese for $8.99, and this is more of a white cheddar mac and cheese, which we loved since it’s so gooey and cheesy. The beef on top is closer to a roasted barbeque, and it has a great sweet taste to it that works really well with the onions and crispies on top.

We think the meat here really elevates the flavor of the mac and cheese, and helps to add in a little bit of protein too. We’d absolutely get it again!

The other new option here is the Loaded Pulled Pork Fries for $8.49. If you’re someone who’s looking at the menu of this restaurant and wants to try some of the meat, the fries, but don’t want to pay full price for a whole plate, this is a great way to go. It’ll not only save you some money, but you’ll be getting a smaller portion that acts more as a snack, and can work well in between larger meals.

The fries themselves literally taste like a barbecue chip in fry form, which we love, and while we love the melted cheese on top, we would have liked to see a little bit more of it. The pulled pork itself is delicious, but we wish the bacon bits mixed in were crunchy instead of soft (since there’s already lots of soft going on with the fries and pulled pork). We did also really love the barbecue sauce, and if you’re wanting more, you’ll find lots throughout the restaurant, so that’s easily rectified. We’d definitely get these again, but be ready to eat them quick so the fries don’t get too soggy!

Overall, all three of these new offerings are real winners, and we have a feeling they’ll be real crowd pleasers. Looking for more recent Epic Universe news? Check out our posts below!
