REVIEW: The ONE Lounge You Don’t Want To Skip on Disney Cruise Line’s Destiny Ship

All aboard! The Disney Destiny, Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, has officially set sail, and we’ve been living through all the details on board. We especially love all the dining!

The Sanctum

You should make sure to check out one of the many lounges on board. One we checked out was The Sanctum, the Doctor Strange-themed lounge. Come along through the portals to check out some of the best drinks onboard.

Y’all, welcome to The Sanctum. This place is COOL! There were tons of Marvel references, of course, most to Doctor Strange.

Inside

There were lots of different seating options, like large booths or smaller tables, as well as a few private areas.

Details

Seriously, take a moment to look around and enjoy all the details. We can tell so much love went into making this lounge.

Inside

First up, we tried the Infinite Bubbles for $17, made with Empress Gin, Creme de Violette Joto, and Citrus One Sake. From the first sip, this packed a punch. I feel like we entered through the portal because the drink is so strong. We mostly tasted the gin and its subtle floral notes, while the sake added sweetness. There was also a smooth black cherry flavor after a few more sips, but it’s definitely for those who like to taste their alcohol.

Infinite Bubbles

Next, we had the Vapors of Valtor made with Grey Goose Altus, Butterfly Pea Lemon, and Fever Tree Ginger Beer for $25. You’re going to have to love butterfly pea to enjoy this one, and we were all for it, especially matched with the beautiful color. There was a strong floral taste with the acidity from the lemon, and the ginger beer came in to help bring in some sharpness. The bubbles on top were our favorite, and it tasted like a garden.

Vapors of Valtor

We also had the Mirror Dimension for $22, which features Stoli Elit, Lychee, Strawberry, pink Peppercorn, and Fever Tree Lime & Yuzu. Okay, all of these drinks are SO pretty. This was very well balanced, with a nice sweetness from the lychee and yuzu, but the alcohol came through in the back of each sip. It’s not the most unique drink we’ve had, but we liked that it wasn’t too strong or too sweet, so it’s a great, safe option.

Mirror Dimension

There was an interactive element: when you touch the glass, the lightning changes, which is cool, too.

Lighting up!

Another drink we had was the Distortion Effect, with Angel’s Envy Single Barrel High Seas Edition and Lillet Rouge Bitters, for $25. It reminded us a lot of an Old Fashioned but with more whisky. Like, a lot more whisky. Whisky lovers will be obsessed with this because it almost tastes just like straight whisky, and we loved how big the drink was, which is a win in our book.

Distortion Effect

Continuing on (we promise we were drinking water and sharing the drinks among the table), we had the Eye Opener with Saigon Baigur, Lemon, Smoked Oolong Tea, and Amaro Montenegro for $15. This was probably was one o th emost unique drinks we had! It had a robust, savory flavor, and the tea was the most forward. It reminded us of breakfast in a weird way. The presentation was fun, with two cups and a teapot.

Eye Opener

We tried The Incursion for $16, which had Absolut Citron, Cointreau, Aperol, Lillet Blanc, and White Cranberry. This drink is basically a Cosmopolitan, but we appreciate that there are safer, familiar options if you want to enjoy the themed area without getting a wild drink. There are definitely more interesting options, but they are enjoyable nonetheless.

The Incursion

For our final drink, we had The Darkhold with Amaro Averna, Patron XO Cafe Agave Nectar, Milk, Salted Caramel Ethel M Chocolates for $15. This is definitely a sweet drink, but it was one of our favorites from the lounge. It’s served warm and perfect for dessert. The server pours it from a Moka pot, then unscrews the bottom to reveal a chocolate truffle. There was even salted caramel foam that dissolved into the drink when it was poured.

The Darkhold

We also grabbed the Mystic Waffles with Custard or Mixed Berry, served with Maple Syrup or Hazelnut Spread, for $5. It’s a pretty small portion, but it’s only $5, so we weren’t too upset. The waffle was served warm and felt fresh, as if it had been made to order. They were crispy, moist, and comforting, and we liked how the custard wasn’t too strong but melted in our mouths!

Mystic Waffles

That’s a wrap! This was probably one of our favorite spots on Disney Destinity since it’s so beautifully themed, with unique drinks. If you’re a lover of Doctor Strange, obviously, you need to visit! We thought the drinks were worth the cost, and they felt thoughtful and well-designed.
