If you’re a frequent Disney Cruise Line sailor who can’t wait to hop on the newest ship, the Disney Destiny, we’ve got some fantastic news for you.

This cruise ship will welcome guests at the tail end of 2025, which is only a few months away. We’ve kept a close eye on all the latest updates, and now there’s a BIG one — the ship has officially had its float out ceremony!
The ship floated out of the Meyer Werft Shipyard for the first time yesterday, August 9th, marking a significant milestone in the cruise industry. It’s a time-honored maritime tradition that tells us that they’re ready to set sail!

Hero Minnie was there to celebrate, reminding us that the theme on board this ship will be heroes and villains — a first for Disney Cruise Line! Disney recently completed putting Spider-Man and his Spider Bots on the stern of the ship, so to see that, plus this successful float-out ceremony, gives us really good feelings that this ship is well on its way to welcoming guests.

This is the first Marvel character to ever be on the stern of a Disney Cruise Line ship.

We couldn’t be more excited for this ship! There are tons of new experiences coming, including a Cruella de Vil piano bar…

…and even a Lion King-themed dinner — Pride Lands: Feast of the Lion King.

Another new element coming to the ship is the Hercules-themed stage show. There are incredible puppets, fun music, and gorgeous costumes.

We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all the latest Disney Destiny news. It’s starting to set sail in Fort Lauderdale on November 20th, and we’ll be bringing you all the details straight to you.
