A Popular Disney World Attraction Is Closing for HUGE Changes

Today’s a big day in Magic Kingdom, but unless you KNOW what’s going on, you may be a little confused as to why this attraction in Tomorrowland is getting so much attention.

Today, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin has its FINAL day of operation before it closes for a months-long refurbishment, and when it reopens, it’ll look VERY different!

Today, August 3rd, is the final day you can ride this Tomorrowland attraction before it reopens in 2026 with new changes.

At around 11 AM, the attraction was sitting at a 45-minute wait, which isn’t too bad. We have a feeling that many guests in the park today don’t know that the current version of this attraction will be gone in just a few hours, but we’re keeping an eye on wait times throughout the day to see what happens.

So, what exactly is changing in this attraction? One of the biggest changes is that there’s going to be a brand new scene at the start of the ride with a NEW character who will teach you how to play the game! His name is Buddy, and we think he looks like so much fun!

Some ride element changes are going to make scoring points so much easier! If you’ve always wanted to become a Galactic Hero, now might be the time.

The ride vehicles will be getting new paint jobs to make them match Star Command colors, and they’ll also be getting new screens inside the ride vehicles that’ll allow you to see your score in real time, along with other details.

The blasters are also changing! You’ll be able to pick them up, and they’ll react once you hit targets. Speaking of the targets, those are getting a new look too, and will also react when they’re hit. There’ll be two different colored lasers per vehicle, so no more guessing if you actually hit the target.

The ride is set to reopen in 2026, and we’ll be ready to hop on and become a Galactic Hero once again. We’ll be sure to keep you updated as we hear more!
