REMINDER: These Iconic Magic Kingdom Attractions Are Permanently CLOSING Soon

Reminder! Magic Kingdom is about to look A LOT different. The Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island, and the Liberty Square Riverboat will be closing for good on July 7th, 2025.

Rivers of America

You have less than two weeks to visit these iconic Magic Kingdom attractions one last time before construction starts in the area. Mark your calendars and clear your plans, you only have a short time to say your goodbyes.

The Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island, and the Liberty Square Riverboat will all be closing for good on July 7th, 2025. The last day to experience these attractions will be July 6th. They are closing so workers can begin construction on the new Cars area coming to Magic Kingdom called Piston Peak National Park.

Rivers of America

Piston Peak National Park will be fully themed to Cars. The area will feature two new attractions: one will be a rally race-type attraction while the other will be a family ride. The rally race ride will have riders racing through mountains and dodging geysers and waterfalls.

The family friendly ride will introduce guests to a new character, Ranger J. Autobahn Woodlore, who is in charge of Piston Peak. As well, the architecture throughout Piston Peak National Park will include “car-ified” elements like lower windows so cars can see out and larger entrances so cars can fit through.

If you want to take one last lap on the Liberty Square Riverboat or explore Tom Sawyer Island one last time, make sure you head to Magic Kingdom by July 6th. That is the LAST day to experience these attractions, and they will all be closed for good beginning July 7th.

Beginning July 7th, there will also be some changes coming to the Walt Disney World Railroad. The good news is that it will still be open during construction, but only part of the route will remain running. The Frontierland Train Station will be closed starting July 7th, so the train will just be running from the Main Street Station to the Fantasyland Station.
