Disney’s Animal Kingdom is undergoing some MASSIVE changes this year and we just got a first look at some construction that’s finally underway in DinoLand, U.S.A.!

Animal Kingdom is making space for a new Tropical Americas-themed land by replacing the old DinoLand, U.S.A. and its attractions. On January 13th, 2025, Disney World permanently closed TriceraTop Spin, Fossil Fun Games, and Chester and Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures and we visited the land to get a first look at the new construction walls that were installed.
During our visit, we noticed several construction walls, shrubs, and even a new chain link fence on the path between DINOSAUR and Chester and Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures to prevent people from walking around the wall.

With the closures officially in place, construction won’t be far away. Work on the new Tropical Americas land is expected to be completed in phases by sometime in 2027.

Keep in mind that these are only walls and blockades at the moment. As construction commences, the dynamic of the space could change and it’s possible we’ll see more drastic changes that influence how the area can be navigated.

As of now, the old attractions are still somewhat visible, albeit behind walls and shrubs.

On the same day Disney World closed these attractions, Animal Kingdom released a new map detailing the new landscape.

While we wait for the first phase of the land’s closure and re-theme to begin, it’s worth noting that not all of DinoLand is closed just yet. DINOSAUR is set to remain open through the year before it closes permanently to become a new Indiana Jones ride.

Additionally, you’ll still be able to meet Disney pals like Daisy, Chip, and Dale in the land as well as dine at Restauarantosaurus.

As for what to expect in 2027, the new Tropical Americas land is planned to be home to a new Encanto boat ride and a new carousel in addition to the Indiana Jones ride. CLICK HERE to get a closer look at a model of this brand-new land and all its offerings!

While we’re excited about the next chapter of Animal Kingdom, it is a bit bittersweet to lose so many familiar attractions. We’ll continue to keep you posted on all the latest Animal Kingdom and Disney World updates, so stay tuned right here at AllEars to stay in the know!
