The closing of DinoLand U.S.A. has officially begun around Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

While we’ve known Disney’s plans to revamp the almost extinct DinoLand U.S.A. area into Pueblo Esperanza celebrating the Tropical Americas, the sting of losing iconic attractions certainly isn’t lessened. Even though we’re excited at the prospect of new rides, attractions, and even featured buildings to explore this new change in Disney World’s app just added salt to the fresh hole that losing DinoLand U.S.A. has caused.
We get it — change is never easy and most of the time hit with quite the divisive audience, but we know why its necessary. Saying goodbye to parts of DinoLand U.S.A. that we probably took for granted for a few decades was hard this past weekend and now an update to Disney World’s maps are driving that point home.

Taking a peek at the park’s map on the My Disney Experience app now reflects the recently closed section of the land instead of its previous attractions.

This new closure covers the Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama Fossil Fun Games, and the TriceraTop Spin ride. This section of the land is included in the first phase of the land’s closure and re-theme beginning soon. A series of work permits have already been filed for upcoming work on the land built out in phases with the intended reopening of the land expected sometime in 2027.

Additionally, Disney’s Animal Kingdom just updated their paper park maps to reflect the recent closures in the land, too!

Don’t worry though, there’s still time to visit some of the other DinoLand U.S.A. attractions. Until the next phases begin, we’ll still be able to enjoy bringing back a long-extinct dino on Dinosaur before it becomes a new Indiana Jones ride…

…meeting with some of our favorite Disney pals like Daisy and Chip ‘n Dale in their dino-riffic costumes…

…and eating a hearty meal fit for a t-rex at Restauarantosaurus.

Just try not to look too far over and expect to grab a cute plush midway game prize or take a spin on a baby triceratops flying above the trees because those are now, well…things of the past.
We’ll be certain to keep you updated as we learn more about the other phases to this land’s closure and overhaul into its new version filled with exciting details from some of the latest Disney feature films and more!
