NEWS: Disney Cruise Line Announces Major CHANGES Coming to 3 New Ships

Disney Cruise Line is expanding! Seatrade Cruise News reported that Disney plans to introduce a new class of cruise ships. These ships are expected to debut between 2027 and 2031, bringing the Disney Cruise Line’s fleet to 13 ships.

This news comes shortly after a flurry of announcements about the future of the Disney Cruise Line. In December 2024, the newest ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, the Disney Treasure, had its inaugural sailing.  Further, the Disney Destiny and Disney Adventure will debut soon, followed by FOUR additional cruise ships joining the fleet in the near future. Now, we have a little bit more information on what we can expect from these new ships!

According to Seatrade Cruise News, Disney wants to add a new type of ship to the fleet. One of the new ships, set to debut in 2027, will be a fourth Disney Wish-style ship. This design is 144,000gt, LNG-powered, and holds about 4,000 guests. The three ships arriving after it in 2029, 2030, and 2031 will be smaller-sized vessels.

These three ships will hold 3,000 guests and measure approximately 100,000gt, making them 20% larger than the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder but smaller than the Dream and Wish classes. These new ships will also be powered with a variety of fuels “including hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) and renewable methanol, while remaining adaptable to additional fuel options that become available to the cruise industry,” per Seatrade Cruise News. Disney said it will also be focused on saving fuel with “a streamlined hull, next-generation power and propulsion systems, and numerous other operations optimized for energy efficiency.”

There are currently six ships in the fleet, and two other ships are already in the works. The Disney Adventure and Disney Destiny will be joining the fleet in 2025.
