Many people travel to Disney World for the parks and other experiences outside of their hotel.
If you are the type of person who wants to be in the parks from sun up to sun down, chances are you are not spending a ton of time at your Disney World hotel. If this sounds like you and you don’t want to break the bank when choosing a Disney World hotel, three hotels are perfect for sleeping, showering, and nothing else.Â
While Disney World has five Value Resorts, three of them sit very close to each other and pretty much share the same name. Today, we are talking about the All-Star Resorts, which include All-Star Sports, All-Star Music, and All-Star Movies.Â
These resorts are pretty much all set up the exact same way: different themed hotel buildings, large themed pools, a gift shop, and a huge food court. These resorts tend to get a lot of hate, but they are an extremely great value, especially if you plan to spend a lot of time exploring other parts of Disney World. Let’s go through some pros and cons to see if booking a stay at one of the All-Star Resorts is right for you.
Pro: It is a Cheaper Hotel to Stay At
All three All-Star Resorts are part of Disney World’s Value Resort tier, which is the cheapest of the three tiers. Value Resorts may not have all the frills that other resorts, like Moderate or Deluxe Resorts, have, but they get the job done.Â
If you are looking to stay at a Disney World hotel but do not want to break the bank, all three All-Star Resorts are a great option!
Pro: You Get Disney World Hotel Perks
Just because the All-Star Resorts are Value Resorts, it does not mean that they don’t get hotel benefits. Guests booking a stay across any of the Disney World hotels can take advantage of free transportation, Early Theme Park Entry, the free water park perk on check-in day, and they can book their Lightning Lane selections seven days in advance.Â
So just because the All-Star Resorts are not as expensive, it does not mean that you won’t still be treated to Disney World hotel guest perks.
Pro: There is Disney All-Around
If you are looking to stay at a resort with heavy theming, then the All-Star Resorts are perfect for you. They genuinely make you feel like you are at Disney World and can be memorable for kiddos. If you want the most Disney theming, we recommend All-Star Movies, but the other two resorts also have touches of Disney along with their heavy music and sports theming.
Con: There is Only One Free Mode of Transportation
If you are looking to use Disney Transportation to get around the resort, your only free option is going to be using Disney buses. The bus stop is located at the front of each resort, and since it is the only mode of transportation, lines for the busses can be long, and the bus can be crowded.Â
Now, this is not always the case, but it is important to think about if you plan on traveling to the parks early in the morning or if you are coming back to your resort late at night, as this tends to be the most crowded bus times.
If you want to avoid taking a Disney bus to make it back to the All-Stars, you could always rent a car or pay for a Minnie Van to pick you up through Lyft.Â
Con: Your Dining Options are Limited
As we mentioned before, each All-Star Resort has its own food court, which serves up an array of different meals. The food here is actually very good, and you should be able to find something for everyone. Plus, you can utilize Mobile Order.
The problem is that the food court is your only dining option. If you are looking to have a character meal or a fancy table service meal, you will have to travel to the parks or another resort.
Con: Hotel Buildings are Spread Out
The All-Star Resorts are huge and spread out. This means that you could potentially have a long walk from your hotel building to the main lobby, where transportation, shopping, and dining are all located.
You could always upgrade from a Standard Room to a Preferred Room to bring you closer to the main building.
Con: The Rooms are Not Super Spacious
The All-Star Resort rooms have gotten major upgrades over the last few years, and they have modernized the rooms and helped with space issues that the previous rooms had.Â
While Disney has helped make more space, the rooms are still smaller than a room at a Moderate or Deluxe Resort. This is something to keep in mind if you plan on parking an ECV (Electric Conveyance Vehicle), wheelchair, or stroller in your room.
The All-Star Resorts are a solid option if you plan to spend time away from your resort during the day and only need a hotel to sleep and shower at. If you want to spend more time exploring your resort, you may want to consider staying at a Moderate or Deluxe Resort instead.

We’ve been to Disney 3 times and stayed at all-star each time. Nothing fancy but the price was right and was just what we needed. A bed to sleep,a pool to cool off in and a quick serve meal before we hit a park. The bus ride was never terrible. Would stay there again if we were to come back
There is nothing wrong with the All-Star resorts! All resorts look exactly the same behind closed eyes.
