Early Theme Park Entry is a great perk that is exclusive to Disney World hotel guests.
This perk allows those staying at a Disney World hotel (or at select hotels in the Disney World area) access to the theme parks 30 minutes before the general public. It’s a great way to knock out a few rides before the crowds arrive in the parks. However, not EVERY ride is available during Early Theme Park Entry, including one in Magic Kingdom that will change soon.
We recently reported that TRON Lightcycle / Run in Tomorrowland will soon be ditching its virtual queue for a standby line. That means you’ll have one of two ways to ride the attraction: by waiting in the standby line or buying a Lightning Lane Single Pass. This change will go into effect as of September 9th.
With this change, you might expect that TRON Lightcycle / Run would be part of Early Theme Park Entry in Magic Kingdom, with most of Tomorrowland open at that time. However, we checked the list of rides open during that time, and TRON is not listed.
We also checked the hours for TRON on September 9th, when the standby line goes into effect, and its hours show that it starts at 9AM, which is Magic Kingdom’s official opening time, indicating that the ride won’t be available for Early Theme Park Entry.
This could potentially mean that almost everyone is going to try to rope drop this ride after September 9th, which will probably mean that the rope drop lines are going to be VERY long. We imagine the standby lines could be long throughout the day for a little while, so you might want to consider paying for that Lightning Lane Single Pass to skip the long standby lines.
We’ll be keeping an eye on those lines and the situation with TRON Lightcycle / Run, so check back with AllEars again soon.
