When Does the New Universal Park in Texas Open?

You may have heard that Universal has a LOT of construction happening, including a new venture in Texas!

We’ve been following the latest news on Epic Universe opening in Orlando, Florida in 2025. Plus, there’s a year-round horror experience coming to Las Vegas. Now we want to take a look at Universal’s plans to open a park in Texas!

When Does the New Universal Park in Texas Open

Universal Kids Resort is under construction on 97 acres of land off Dallas North Tollway and Panther Creek Parkway in Frisco, Texas. As it stands, it’s expected to be about 1/4 of the size of the Orlando parks. Construction was set to begin in 2023 with an opening date in 2026.

Universal Kids Resort is geared to 1-2 day vacations with family-friendly attractions and a convenient hotel for resort guests.

In February 2024, we discovered that a Dallas-local utility company, Moss Utilities, had been tapped with a contract for the site utilities.

These services will provide the first phase of plumbing, sanitation, and emergency basics for the theme park and resort hotel.

Yes, this new park is very much still in the early stages of physical development!

So, will this park still open in 2026? It’s hard to say, but right now we’re keeping our 2026 vacation options flexible for a Texas getaway!

In the past, Universal has demonstrated their efficiency when building new attractions (and parks like Epic Universe). Since Universal Kids Resort is a much smaller theme park, we think this opening timeline is possible!
