Mysterious Construction Has Popped Up at One Magic Kingdom Store ?

Magic Kingdom has a lot of construction coming up in the next few years!

At Disney’s biggest fan event of the year, we heard that Magic Kingdom will soon be getting a new Cars land where Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America currently are, and a Villains land is coming behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad! A new Pirates Lounge is also currently under construction in Adventureland near Pirates of the Caribbean, but…wait, what’s this strange construction?

Over in Liberty Square, we love checking out Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe, which is a store that sells Christmas items year-round! Yep, 365 days a year, you can get your Christmas fix here and we love it.

It could be 100 degrees outside, but it’ll still feel like the holiday season in here. However, there’s been some interesting activity over here recently that’s only gotten more and more intriguing. A few weeks ago, there was a mysterious substance that needed to be cleaned up near the area — it was so bad that part of Liberty Square needed to be closed down!

And now, about 2.5 weeks later, about half of Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe is blocked off with walls!

Some of the merchandise that was in this area has been moved to other parts of the store, while other items (such as The Nightmare Before Christmas items) have been scattered around the park for now.

Even the windows are shuttered!

When we asked a Cast Member what was going on, we were told that it’s a mystery right now why it’s been closed and they aren’t sure how long we should expect it to be closed. Now, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen walls around this store, but it is curious that it happened just weeks after that mysterious cleanup.

We’re still very glad part of the store is open for shopping — sometimes we just need to look at that that countdown to Christmas and remember that cooler temperatures and snow on Main Street, U.S.A. are on the way!
