We occasionally see accidents and spills happen in Disney World

People spill drinks or food and some may get sick from rides. Disney’s custodial Cast Members are always on top of getting these situations cleaned up promptly so they don’t detract from the magical environment. We were recently in Magic Kingdom when we noticed a clean up effort in full force.
We were near the Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe in Liberty Square at Magic Kingdom, when we noticed Cast Members working hastily to clean up what seemed to be a pretty large mess behind the store.

We also started to notice an odd smell in the area. It was a deep, rich smell that was not pleasant. It reminded us of a bad coffee smell, but that may have been contributed to them trying to cover up the original smell with a spray and detergent.

When we asked Cast Members if someone had gotten sick in the area, they said no but they wouldn’t elaborate on the situation. They said the back was closed for the time being because they were having a problem. So it seems that the situation wasn’t caused by a guest, but by something related to the park instead.

Two cavalcades were also canceled likely due to the situation. If the cavalcades were canceled for weather such as rain, they would do the Rainy Day Parade, but since that was not the case, it leads us to believe that they were not cleared to pass by this area of the park.

At this time, we still don’t know exactly what caused the aggressive cleanup effort, but we’ll keep you posted if we find out! Luckily, Disney is really quick to take care of any issues such as this and the problem shouldn’t affect one’s day in the park. We appreciate the Cast Members who are working to take care of the situation so quickly!
