4 Things You’ll Regret Bringing to Disney’s Animal Kingdom

If you’re heading to Animal Kingdom, it might be best to leave these items at home!

Animal Kingdom

Packing for a day at a Disney World park like Animal Kingdom is one of the most important parts of any theme park trip. However, just as important as what to pack is what NOT to pack. Either because these items aren’t allowed in the park, or are simply too cumbersome to carry, we wouldn’t recommend bringing any of these to Animal Kingdom. Don’t worry! We’ve found perfect replacements.

First off, you can’t bring plastic straws into Animal Kingdom (or Animal Kingdom Lodge) as they are a choking hazard for the animals that populate the park and the hotel. They also only have agave or paper straws available in the parks. Some people really don’t like the texture of these straws, and they break down pretty quickly.

That’s why we recommend these Reusable Silicone Straws from Amazon.

This set of 12 reusable straws comes with 4 pouches to store them in and includes cleaning brushes.

Staying hydrated is one of the most important things one can do at a Disney park, especially at Animal Kingdom, which is known to be the hottest “real feel” park at Disney World, thanks to its dense foliage trapping the heat. However, you won’t be able to use a glass water bottle.

Instead, pick up a Stainless Steel Water Bottle.

Another essential for a Disney park? A solid bag. However, while it might be tempting to pack the largest backpack possible with every possible essential, we wouldn’t recommend a large one for Animal Kingdom. This park can get hot, and with how much you’ll be walking, you’ll be grateful you went with the smaller backpack.

That makes Animal Kingdom the perfect park for a Disney Loungefly Backpack.

While there are countless Disney Loungefly designs based on theme parks, films, television series, and every other type of Disney property you can imagine, this The Lion King one jumped out at us for Animal Kingdom. We love how it’s blue instead of the traditional yellow.

Speaking of your backpack, one of the best things to pack in it? The Frogg Togg.

The Frogg Tong might be our favorite Disney rainwear option. This poncho – – available on Amazon in multiple colors, including this striking hot pink – – had several features that we love. The material allows the rain to slip right off, and between that and the lack of sleeves, we didn’t feel steamed or hot underneath. On top of that, the poncho was large enough that our backpack was able to fit underneath it comfortably, while still keeping the bag and our backs completely covered from the rain.

If all that wasn’t enough, the poncho even comes with a waterproof storage bag, meaning we were able to quickly pack it up and throw it in our backpack as soon as the storm ended without worrying about anything in there getting wet.

Unfortunately, there’s one item you can’t bring into Animal Kingdom in any form: Balloons. Due to the dangers posed to the animals, iconic Disney balloons aren’t allowed near the park. Don’t worry, though, Disney can hold your balloons in balloon daycare until you’re done at Animal Kingdom!
