A Disney World Attraction Has Officially Closed and Won’t Reopen for MONTHS

Every once in a while, we have to say a (temporary) goodbye to various Disney World attractions as they close for refurbishment. Even rides and shows need a break now and then!

Country Bear Jamboree

We’ve known since September 2023 that the Country Bears would be taking an extended vacation, but now the time has come. Sometimes, attractions need to be updated, so we send our well-wishes to our dancing and singing Country Bear Jamboree as it closes for an extended refurbishment.

During Destination D23, Disney announced that the beloved Magic Kingdom musical, Country Bear Jamboree, would be closing for an extended re-imagineering.  Now, that time has come. The Country Bear Jamboree is officially closed — for now.

Country Bear Jamboree is closed.

The Country Bear Jamboree was an opening day attraction in Disney World on October 1st, 1971. So, it was probably time to dust off some cobwebs. On the days leading up to the closure, we noticed longer lines and more viewers; everyone was hoping to get a chance to say goodbye before the bears left us for MONTHS. In fact, the show was so popular on its closing night that it ran into some technical difficulties and had to end early!

The bears and their animal friends are getting an all-new look. We’ll still have our favorite animals when the show re-opens; however, Disney has shared that they will look and sound a little different.

When the musical re-opens, we’ll be hearing new songs and even seeing a whole new act! Disney will be working with popular Nashville country stars to come up with some catchy new tunes and drawing on classic Nashville variety shows for the new gig. We got a look at a poster for the new jamboree, and we gotta say, the bears are looking spiffy.

Luckily, the show will go on; it will just be a bit quieter around Frontierland for a few months. Disney has not released a re-opening date yet but has said sometime in the summer of 2024. We’ll try to be patient, but you know we’ll be there on opening day!

  1. The show may have aged poorly but it was an iconic Walt-touched original that was hurting nobody. If someone doesn’t like it then don’t go to it, it’s really that simple. Sad to think that one day all authentic Walt inspired attractions will have been taken away or re-themed. (Look out Small World, you are likely next!)
