Why People Hate These Disney World Hotel Rooms

If you’re lucky enough to have stayed in more than one Disney World hotel — chances are you have a favorite.

But, that also means you likely have a least favorite. Maybe it just wasn’t quite your vibe, or maybe you had a less-than-stellar experience. Either way, we’re digging into why people HATE these Disney World hotel rooms.

Not all Disney World hotels are created equally — and even more, not all hotel rooms are created equally either. Of course, what’s best for some isn’t always best for others, but these are just some of the reasons why people hate these Disney World hotel rooms!

Polynesian Lobby

Disney’s Riviera Resort is absolutely beautiful — it’s the newest of the hotels, and features five room types: Tower Studios, Deluxe Studios, 1-Bedroom villas, 2-Bedroom villas, and 3-Bedroom grand villas.

The Riviera Resort Tower Studio room only sleeps two!

The main problem we hear about this resort is that it’s extremely expensive for the size of the rooms — especially the Tower Studios!

A bit less specific, but you might want to shy away from Value Resorts if you’re trying to cram more than two adults in one room. Sure, they’re great for small families, and there are suites available at places like Art of Animation, but overall — you’re betting off shelling out for a bit more room.

Speaking of Art of Animation, we’ve heard complaints about The Little Mermaid-themed rooms at this hotel.

They haven’t been updated with the pull-down beds yet, and because of that they are — you guessed it — cramped.

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is severely underrated. It’s a Moderate Resort with Deluxe vibes — if you know where to stay, that is. Gran Destino Tower was added in 2019 and is a gorgeous resort. But, the original rooms at Coronado aren’t as nice.

Don’t get us wrong, this resort is great, but you might want to specifically request Gran Destino Tower at check-in if that’s what you’re after.

Disney World was built on Florida swampland, and that means dealing with swamp creatures from time to time — including bugs. We’ve noticed this is especially true with the first-floor rooms at Pop Century after heavy rain.

The bugs are looking for somewhere to go, and they can get inside your room without you realizing it. Keep an eye out if you’re in a first-floor room at Pop!

The Contemporary Resort is a marvel due to the monorail that runs smack dab through the main atrium. It’s a pretty cool feat, and while you might think staying in that part of the hotel is ideal — it can actually be incredibly loud.

Contemporary Resort Atrium

Not only do you have the monorail buzzing through, but Contempo Cafe and Chef Mickey’s are also in the atrium so you’ll have to deal with folks dining for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Of course, there are also rooms you might want to avoid at all of the Disney World hotels — we’re talking about ones that are far away from transportation, dining, or maybe even closer to pools if you’re looking for more quiet.

Yacht & Beach Club Pool

Only you know what your needs are, so keep these things in mind and see if you can request a specific room at check-in. Cast Members may not always be able to accommodate, but they’ll certainly do their best!
