We love eating at Disney as much as the next person.
Yes, some of it is expensive, and some of it is more for the experience than the food (we’re looking at you Be Our Guest and Cinderella’s Royal Table), but others are really solid options that we love. However, it’s been a few years since some of these restaurants were looked at, and a few of them are in DIRE need of refurbishments.
We asked our readers on Facebook what restaurants in Disney World they feel need a refurbishment for any reason, and now we’ve got your responses!
Coral Reef
We’re not surprised this made the list. Coral Reef is a commonly forgotten-about restaurant located in EPCOT near The Seas with Nemo and Friends and offers some of the views from the aquarium next door, SeaBase.
While the atmosphere of this restaurant is cool, and the food can be great…but, it can also be pretty bad. Reader Skip said “Menu wise The Coral Reef” meaning they think the menu here needs an overhaul.
So what’s really the issue? It’s inconsistent. Which isn’t great for a restaurant that’s already for a smaller group of people (since many people don’t eat seafood, especially in theme parks). If you’re looking for some great sea life views but don’t want to dine, just head to SeaBase next door!
‘Ohana
A potentially controversial one on this list is ‘Ohana at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.
This has been a beloved restaurant for many years, but many Disney fans agree that this restaurant is in need of an overhaul. We’ve seen many comments from guests saying they’ve previously had great experiences here, but recently it’s gone downhill. Reader Chris said, “facilities were looking worn last time we were there…” and reader Kimberly said ‘Ohana is “in need of a refurbishment.”
So if this restaurant could get a little bit of menu and atmosphere TLC, it’ll be good as new!
Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe
This one is also a little controversial, but many fans feel that since Splash Mountain is gone, Pecos Bill’s should get a bit of a retheme.
Now, they’re not really talking about the food, but more about the theming of the restaurant itself.
Reader Kendra said, “I’d like to see it rethemed to incorporate the new Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Basically for beignets in the parks.”Some say this since it’ll be so close to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, while others feel it just needs some sort of retheme in general.
Liberty Tree Tavern
Also in Magic Kingdom, many people feel Liberty Tree Tavern is just in need of an overall physical retheme.
While this is a solid spot to eat, the restaurant has been around for quite a while and some guests feel they noticed some decline in the state of it when they last ate there. Reader Chris says it needs some “freshening up” many agree the food it great.
Do keep in mind though that it shares a kitchen with the Diamond Horseshoe restaurant, so if you (for whatever reason) can’t get a dining reservation at Liberty Tree Tavern, head over there for very similar food.
Tony’s Town Square Restaurant
You knew it would be here! Yes, Tony’s Town Square Restaurant in Magic Kingdom has also made it on this list, with guests requesting a food retheme.
This restaurant has a bad reputation in Disney World, mostly due to its food menu. Some guests found it unappealing and entirely too heavy.
However, we do want to stress that this menu DID recently get a menu overhaul a few months ago that we’re actually big fans of! So if you haven’t been to this restaurant in the past year, we say go and give it another try.
And those are the five restaurants our fans say need an overhaul one way or another. As always, be sure to stay tuned to AllEars for all the latest Disney news, tips, and tricks!
Here are the Disney World restaurants we’ll NEVER eat at again and why
Do you agree with this list? Tell us why or why not in the comments!
Agree on most points. Not to change theme of Tony’s but give lighter Italian offerings would give more pizazz! Actually ate at Coral Reef 1st time in like 30 years but was pleasantly surprised! Food was actually delicious. Prime Rib was huge! And affordable! But agreed that the 70’s called and want their decor back!
